Make homework fun. for example, play a game and he gets to have a turn every time he completes an answer or put a chocolate chip on each correct answer that he can eat after the hw is complete.

It is not how homework works and he needs to learn to play the games in life correctly for his own good

That being said one of my kids did this sshtik so I spoke to the teacher and she said it was okay if we do like every other or one line and one line but you need to stick to that

Do you think they should continue this torture? "ABC homework" sounds like OP's kid is very little. Research has shown that homework has no benefits in elementary school. It's bad enough that they're making kindergarten the new first grade and all that--then the child has to come home and fight with their parents over their schoolwork, instead of playing? Sucks for everybody involved.

Glad this site has informed people of the movement.

"Little kids need to be miserable so they can practice being adults" has never seemed like a very good argument to me. Evidence has suggested over and over again that if we give kids what they need at X age when they are X age, then they will be better prepared to do Y when they are Y age.
