I know, I took it back a few posts up. I wasn't thinking. I'm tired. I had to get up really early. I'm really hungry because I haven't eaten anything decent today. I just realized I forgot to call a good friend for her birthday. The dog ate my homework.

In EY we pay for every drop of water, so rather an expensive alternative. (Not to mention that we need every drop here, even if we didn't have to pay.)

But you could do that while you and others are taking showers anyway. so no waste. of course its not as good as ironing, but better than nothing.

Separate out the clothes of those who are old enough to wash them (my parents taught me to do laundry when I was 9 and it was my responsibility from then on). Inform them that they need to wash their own clothing and that you do not have time to do it. If it doesn't get done, their problem. The same goes for ironing.
I'm mean. 
If you run into competition for the washer, can you send your children out to a laundry mat to do their own clothes?
