I want to buy a new digital camera, just for personal use, nothing professional. Any recommendations? Anything I should stay away from? Thanks.

I've got the Samsung NV10. Its good and has cool features, but I prefer Canon cameras.

Stay away from Fuji, Kodak and all cheap brands.
Olympus, Cannon and Nikon are good.
Panasonic ans Sony are supposed to be okay too but I know nothing about them.

I just bought one, so I checked them all out, plus drove some people crazy, so here goes:
The canons are the strongest ones around so figure out your budget out and get something for that price; The more expensive ones just add some more features, but they aren't really necessary. The SD Series from canon are small, compact and take incredibly clear and sharp pictures.
I had a sony untill now, but it broke after 3 years, and I found out that the sonys tend to go faster.
Nikons have a good record as well.
Good luck!

Go here:
http://www.myproductadvisor.co.....ry.do
They ask you to enter every last detail of your preferences and suggest a range of choices.
If you need help with choices you don't understand, PM me. If you don't care about a feature, leave it at neutral.
I suggest you choose "very high preference" for image stabilization and also zoom of at least 5 or 6x.
Hatzlocha!
