I feel the need to write this out for whoever is willing to read this:
I live in a community in Israel that has made the headlines over the past year, tied to a certain story that "exploded" and has paraded the Religious Zionist community, and the Haredi Religious Zionist in particular, through the media.
People read news stories and are shocked.
I live here, and I know the stories behind these cases and have come to realize how wrong it is to take news stories at face value.
But unfortunately, so many of us do every day.
A new case just came to light in the past couple of days, also from my community, and it is not how it seems in the news AT ALL.
I can't go into details because I don't want to expose the people I'm speaking about, but we're speaking about serious mental health problems that people outside of this community don't know about and then jump on the bandwagon of believing these people and what they're saying in the media.
It's horrifying because the vast majority of the readers believe the lies being spread, and it makes me so sad.
I'm sad for the people who are turning to the media, because they are suffering from mental issues. I'm sad for their families. I'm sad for the absurd situations in which a child makes statements in the media, (is known to be dealing with mental health issues) and, in doing so, shatters his parents' world. The child made very strong statements about himself and even about others, including another child who died from mental illness too.
I'm crying to this child's sweet, wonderful parents who are such special people and have been thrust into the spotlight due to the demons their child is dealing with, through no fault of their own. H chose them to have this challenge in this world. I cry also for the child who has to struggle daily with unfathomable demons. I cry for all the people dealing with mental illness. There are so many, aren't there?
The depth of sheker in the media is frightening. And in this world, in general.
We need Mashiach and we need him now.
So much pain, suffering, confusion, and darkness that we are living with in this world...
Please read this and remember that the news is not what it seems. At all.
Please believe in the good in people and remember that so many people are dealing with demons. Please be kind to people. Please let us all daven for a better, brighter world.
