The rav is not affiliated with Bais rochel he knows people there so he’s trying his pull, that’s not affiliated!

A big part of the problem is also that people only apply & want to send to one specific school and are adamant on that. You must keep and open mind and apply to several schools. I was rejected from 3 schools before my kids go in to their current schools, through begging, and this is without moving.... |
What are with all the people that want a school more heimish where technology is a no no or atleast very controled but are unaffiliated with the mains? All these schools exist but impossible to get in

If you were talking about one city, then perhaps. But the majority of big cities have this problem. Monsey is out, lakewood is out....
That's a ridiculous sentiment. We are so worried about technology, that we fail to see what else is affecting our youth. They dont get into schools, we are limiting their life options..... - this OTD crisis will spiral more and more out of control. It's not technology that's pushing our kids away to this degree - its the life difficulties that we create for them. Who wants to part of a lifestyle that doesn't accept them into schools, severely limits their life options and creates unsustainable effects for them. Yiddishkeit us becoming burdensome and troubling. We are destroying its beauty step by step. |
So what are you suggesting? What's the answer? Rabbanim are doing whatever they can. It's the people that are moving that are the problem. They want to have it easy and just move without putting in the effort. They're hung up on one school, refuse to give money for building fee, expect everyone to accept them with open arms, but then just bash Rabbanim and communities because things aren't going their way. There are several new communities in NY/NJ that are slowly building up, but people want to move only to already overcrowded communities because they want all comforts without putting in any effort and work from their part. The schooling is a real crisis and people just like to blame Rabbanim and schools for it, instead of putting any effort in themselves.

But you expect schools like bais Rachel to accept families who do have internet, right? So you end up with the same issue all over.
Turns out everyone does want the schools to stick to accepting certain type people so you send to a place that has your hashkafos.
Once again, I’m not sure why people complain that some schools don’t accept while at the same time they don’t want to send to those who do accept. It’s a contradiction.
If you understand your friend for being picky, you need to understand the schools for being picky.
It’s 2 sides of the same coin.
Both want to stick to a certain style.
So the problem is just as much the people as the schools. Stop bashing schools for not accepting anyone!

That's just too bad. They have to move with an open mind and not be hung up just on specific schools. And even in the schools where technology is a no no, are kids exposed to thing. It's impossible to avoid nowadays.

Exactly. Bnos Derech Yisroel is a fine school. And if someone is so afraid to send there, then something is wrong with their chinuch at home.

Are the rabbonim doing everything they can? The people don't see it. Are they doing more than just saying 'dont move'? If so, make it public. What we see is all these asifas about tech, about our teenage girls friendships, and about our wigs. What we see is huge sums of money being directed towards shuls and kollels, while our school kids are ignored.
Since this is such a big crisis, they need to come forward and speak to the people about plans of actions. Otherwise, they either look like they're doing very little, or are actually indeed doing very little about it.
And stop blaming the parents. It's a parent instinct to want the best for their children. Telling a parent you have no choices for your children is a great way to alienate people. Fix the problem and stop blaming the poor parents who are stuck in a system that offers them no reprieve and no options.

Several unaffiliated schools have opened in Monsey throughout the years and had to close down because people didn't want to send there, because it's unaffiliated and they accept everyone.......
People don't want to send to schools that accept, yet are mad that the schools that are bursting at the seems, don't accept. Then blame the Rabbanim for not doing anything about the situation.

See my above post. Yes, the problem is often the parents. They refuse to send to new unaffiliated schools because they actually accept people! And if the school accepts, then there must be something wrong with the school......... so yes, this is the people's problem.

Not really. Even within these new schools, there arent enough slots for all the kids sitting at home. So this is a community problem, and to a lesser extent, a people problem.
Have enough schools for our kids and this people problem will mostly fall away.

Did you read the part that unaffiliated schools have closed down over the years because people didn't want to send there?? Fact is, that people don't want to send to schools that accept, because if they accept, they must be a problematic school.....
BDY accepts. Yet people don't want to send there because they accept ....
People want to have their cake and eat it too.

So here you see yourself the need of more such schools
With all repect to bdy, becuz they accept everyone they turned into the name they unfortunately got. ( that's contradictory itself, they are nice, accept everyone, yet the name scares off people) My friend with zero internet access won't send there , she's really afraid for shidduchim , she has nothing against that school but seeing the list of schools she applied recently I can get the feel thay bdy is open minded exposure for her.
