I was not paying attention and instead of tomato sauce I brought a can of tomato purée by mistake. Any recipes using this would be appreciated!

Use it as a sauce for Meatballs. I saw many meatball recipes using crushed tomatoes

You could just add water to the tomato purée and some spices, a touch of sugar and you have tomato sauce

Punkt farkehrt. Tomato sauce is more concentrated than puree. Just use the puree as is. If you want the resulting gravy to be thicker after the dish is cooked, pour it off into a saucepan and simmer, uncovered, until the volume is reduced by half or the consistency is to your liking. If that is too time-consuming, thicken the sauce with the starch of your choice. Thickening through evaporation will concentrate the flavor, while thickening with starch won't.
Or just make tomato-vegetable soup. Add one can of water; assorted chopped veggies of your choice (frozen is fine) such as carrots, celery, green beans, zucchini, kernel corn, peas, onion; season with garlic, pepper, bay leaf, and Italian seasoning or your own choice of oregano, basil, rosemary, parsley, dill or Worcestershire sauce if you go for that; and, if you like the commercial-soup flavor, some powdered broth mix. Simmer until the vegetables are tender.
