I would hate for rumors to spread if he’s indeed innocent.
Even though the red flags are there I would wait to hear the full story before accusing him of doing it intentionally.
I’m sure we’ll find out if there’s proof of this wiring to the wrong party. It shouldn’t be that hard to verify. I do feel there’s a chance that he was scammed. |
This was literally his chance to tell his full story. And he did. He was pretty open, confident, and smug.

In response to the person who wrote "he's a master manipulator", I find it difficult to believe that most people who watch that podcast would be persuaded. He gave zero tangible facts or proof of anything. And then tried to say he doesn't owe an explanation when, um yeah you do! When you disappear hundreds of thousands of dollars of clients' money, you've got some 'splainin to do. And if you market your business to the public, then yeah, everyone gets to ask. |
I'm skeptical as well. But how can he prove he wasn't scammed. He said the FBI and law enforcement are involved. They can easily trace the account the money was sent to.
He is explaining. He said he was a phishing victim. Again, I'm not sure. But you seem to be expecting him to conclusively prove he wasn't scammed. The only thing he can do is cooperate with law enforcement and it appears he is doing so.

Based on his own words, I now know three things.
1. A bunch of people paid him hundreds of thousands of dollars for a pesach program he didn't deliver on because he "was scammed".
2. Based on an article he wrote a few years ago, he tried to run a shavuot program but "was scammed" again and it fell through literally at the last second at which point he dodged the event. He claimed he knew from the beginning that one of the guys was a scammer (whose fault it was entirely) and that he didn't trust this guy's kashrut (but decided to use him for the program anyway, for reasons that was another person's fault.)
3. Now based on what he says in this podcast, there was yet another previous pesach program that was a disaster because he "was scammed".
All I can say is, don't give this guy money if you want something in return. He's clearly at huge risk of "being scammed". And I hope someone reports this to the FBI so all those people have a chance at getting their money back. |
Are you exaggerating here? I listened to the interview. What previous program ended in disaster?

Yes. This happened to a family member. They were however suspicious about something in the wording and logo and were bh able to stop the transfer of money.
As for those asking about insurance- yes travelers and vacationers should purchase insurance or use a credit card- which has insurance.

Whether the scam actually occurred or not, we can all take this as a reminder to triple check things before sending funds out. View all emails with a modicum of suspicion.

You said you know 3 things.
Then you put the idea that he "was scammed" in quotes as if you know he's lying. You don't know this.

Sour grapes doesnt prove his innocence. Only proof that he wired money to a fraudster, and that whatever he said happened, is proven to have really happened, will.

I personally know vendors from his past events that did not get paid. He is a scammer and trying to pin the blame on others.

I’m not sure what you’re implying?
Are you convinced that he wasn’t scammed?
I agree he was smug but that still doesn’t prove he wasn’t scammed. It may prove that he doesn’t feel terrible about it for some reason. Almost like the scam worked in his favor.
It’s all assumptions. I really hope we’ll get a follow up.

The interview had so many inconsistencies. First he says the story started March 3, later he says March 15 and then he says until this past Wednesday they had no clue something was amiss. So which one is it?
First he says there was an extra "r" on the domain, then he says the actual email was hacked. So which one is it?
First he says they are selling the food now for half price. Then when someone asks where to get the stuff he doesn't exactly answer that.
And many many more red flags.

You said he we haven't heard the whole story. Why do you think that? He went on the podcast to literally tell the whole story n

We don’t have the proof that he wired money to the wrong address.
If he did, then he was indeed scammed. If he didn’t then he’s the scammer. We won’t know this part without proof.
Even though the story is full of red flags and smells fishy we don’t have the full story. Only his version of it. Which may or may not be true.

One thing is for sure, this interview didn’t do his story any good.
Would be much more wise to stay silent and get a good lawyer for the case.

Well we don't know the last part of the story. If the FBI can prove that the wire was sent to a fraudster, that would fill in a missing piece. What info did he not provide that you can say forsure he's withholding?

If last years program was successful, why didn't they do it at the kartrite again? Notice that each event takes place in different hotels...

He couldn’t even give the FBIs name or number.
