Eating out tonight and at the shul tomorrow! I bought berries for our hosts for tonight, and I baked blondies so we would have something to nosh on. Don't know what we'll do for shalosh seudos, we usually have leftovers!

Brunch for dinner tonight:

Sparkling citrus-rasberry blend drink
Crustless quiche with asparagus and fake bacon
Lemon-ricotta souffle pancakes
Blueberry sauce for pancakes
broccoli rabe with garlic
Corn salad or
Green salad

Challa (not so perfect, as I tried to reduce the sugar and - well, don't try this at home)
Beouf au jus avec arroz blanco (does that sound fancy enough. That's French/Spanish for Brisket with rice)
Yerushalmi Kugel
Carrot Kugel
Okra in tomato sauce
antipasti
Fruit soup

For tomorrow:
grilled "stand up chicken"
noodle stir fry with veggies
roasted potatoes
leftover kugel
eggplant in tehina
leftover antipasti
fresh salad
watermelon and melon
zebra cookies

tonight we are having a 4th of july bbq style dinner
challah
gefilte fish (if anyone wants)
bbq ribs
hamburgers
chicken wings
grilled portebello mushrooms with pesto sauce
cole slaw
potato salad
pasta salad
and red white and blue trifle (ameretto cake with whip and blueberries and strawberries)
watermelon

daytime
leftovers
challah dips
salads
fish
taco salad with meat
and kugels

woo! DF79, I'm coming to YOUR house!!! Very Happy

my shabbos meal is very simple, B"H.

home made challah (not bad for 4 wks post-partum, right?)
tuna (forgot to buy shabbos fish)
green salad (if I have the koichos to check it, otherwise, tomatoes and cukes)
several sabra salad dips
chicken soup with lukshen and kneidelach
potato kugel (trying a new recipe today, wish me luck)
choc chip cookies (also home made)

tomorrow, more of the same plus...cholent a la kiddush!

it's simple but yummy, and we always feel very happy and full.

a guten erev shabbos everyone!

Mama-star, wow, homemade challah at 4 weeks pp is very impressive!

Here's mine...

homemade challah

mixed greens & portabella mushroom salad
moroccan meat turnovers
baked sesame chicken
butternut squash souffle
vegetable kebabs
broccoli kugel

kahlua cake (or should I call it Starbuck's coffee liqour cake, since I couldn't find kahlua with a hechsher)

Greeneyes, lots of times Kahlua bottles don't have hechsherim on them, but apparently the ones bottled in Mexico are kosher, and the ones bottled in the US (I think it's in CA) are not. This goes for the past few years - if you have an old bottle, they're all fine.

Disclaimer - I didn't hear this from a Rav, but I did hear it from a well respected kosher caterer, who knows all this stuff in and out.

Im trying to simplify, since I could spend all day in the kitchen if I dont pay attention, I love to patchke and make interesting new dishes...

So, this shabbos was as follows:

Dinner:
Homemade challa
Chicken-vegetable soup
Chicken in Matbucha sauce
Oven-roasted carrots & potatos
Eggrolls (dh brought from Machane yehuda)
Cookies for dessert

Lunch: (had company)
Fruit platter (mostly melon)
Deli
Oven roasted Chicken breasts
Potato salad
Zucchini salad
Big green salad
Tomato-chickpea salad
Cookies & chocolate cake for dessert

Seuda shlishit:
leftovers & devilled eggs

Sorry atlastamom, that I didn't see this sooner.

Do you have KBD short on time? I got the recipe for the turnovers from that cookbook. If you don't have it, let me know.

P.S. Raisin, in case you happen to read this, you actually inspired me to try the turnovers because you mentioned them in another thread. They were a hit, so thanks! Very Happy

Its time to start thinking about shabbos again. Nothing to exciting this week.

Homemade Challa
sushi(that will be our fish)
roasted red pepper salad
chumus
Tossed salad
hearts of palm/avadadoe salad

No soup too hot

Potatoe kugel
roasted chicken
grilled vegetables

blueberry muffins
mocha oatmeal cake

We are having
Challah
chumus
tomato dip
russian salad

fried gefilte fish served over a bed of stiry friied vegetables and noodles

Barley soup

Chicken with sweet potatoes
honeyed carrots
farfel
apple kugel

chocolate carmel muffins
chocolate peanut butter cookies

Shabbos day The first course is the same and then we will have cholent
potato kugel
rice kugel and the same deserts.
