Today is my sons last day in playgroup untill next monday, when they start day camp.
was I supposed to send a gift or tip today for the teachers???
if yes, how much is a normal tip amount? he was there since february.

a thank you card and maximum twenty dollars or a small gift liek a picture frame or nice album

Yeah, I have 8 teachers to give this year so I am just giving $20 with a nice note.

I don't see why it is just American. It has nothing to do where you are from, it has to do with being a mentch. One has to show appreciation, be it with a nice card, tip, or gift.
OTOH, can I give them whatever I will be giving them at the end of daycamp? when he will be leaving them for good? or do I give it now?

A nice thank you card with some cash should do the trick. If you tip twice during the year then a card alone is good.

Today is also my son's last day in playgroup. I was going to send a tip along with a card but then decided against it since he will be going there next week for day camp. I already tipped twice during the year and I didn't want to tip now and then after day camp again. Maybe I will still send a card today.

Happy mommy - I had that situation last year so I waited until after the summer to give $$, before my son left to go to school in Sept.
Chocaholic - I agree with B&B. It's not an american thing - it's a mentchlich thing, to show appreciation to your child's teacher for all the hard work.
