I'm thinking of having flowers delivered to my sons' teachers tomorrow (erev shabbos and the last day of school) with a card my boys make saying thank you.
2 question:
Do unmarried teachers appreciate this? (probably just end up on thier mothers shabbos table)
2 of my sons have assistent teachers who are family. One has the mother and one the daughter. Is it weird to send them each a bouquet?

I think its a beautiful thing, even if it would end up on thier mothers table. Its the thought that counts and I am sure they will love it.

Don't you know how women feel about plants? They don't want practical and lasting, they want something beautiful that will die so someone will think of them again next week!

As a preschool teacher, I know that in I and the teachers I work with, all appreciate a real, genuine thank you card so much more than a gift.

(and I hate to say this, but with the unmarried teachers, and maybe even the marrieds, there is a BIG chance the flowers will end up being left at school. There is always so much stuff to take home on the last day.

As a side note, the way it works where I teach is that all the parents in the class give money and then the class parent buys a gift from the whole class. This year we each got $110 to macy's, a very generous and appreciated gift.

but I'll say it again, a card means the most. You can't imagine how happy you will make the teachers with a thank you card.

I agree 100%! the most meaningful gift I ever got was when a mother came to me after graduation with tears in her eye (and mine) and thanked me for how much I had helped her family and their son with special needs. she gave me a small envelope with a card from them and a picture from their son...I still cry when I think about it. I knew they couldn't afford to give anything but they needed to give hakoras hatov.

Yes, you just reminded me that one of my kids parents this year gave a small card to each of us with a picture of their child on the front and the card was written as if from him.
Totally cute and appreciated!!

letters/cards from the kids are always most meaningful.
the gift is from the parent and it means that teh parent appreciated ur efforts etc.
good point mentioned above, if ur gonna send flowers, please dont make the teacher shlep them home, get them delivered....
