But from what you described- is it the piece of foam? Yerushalmim use that. (and they are not considered chassidish, but yes, wear a streimel) |
It’s a threaded piece attached to something like a foam.
Some people wear a shpitzel with a hat too.
I think there was a thread about this previously.
I’ll try to link it.
The Yerushalmi wear foam under the tichel. Nothing sticks out in the front.

I would be surprised to hear a litvishe woman wearing a shpitzel, because afaik mamash only satmar ladies wear a shpitzel. Vs Yerushalamis and other chasidis wear arupgebinden.

I know a ton of women who are chassidish and not Satmar that wear a tichel tied like a shpitzel-wearer would but without the shpitzel piece under it. It's called a Tichel. And these are not farfrumt ladies, very open-minded and not always extremely chassidish, but they want a more refined head covering.
A shpitzel is only if they wear that threaded piece underneath. Shpitzel means trick, to trick you into thinking there is hair underneath whatever head covering they are wearing.

I know someone who is not chassidish and wears a shpitzel. She lives in an intense chassidish city.
I think her in laws are also not chassidish but not litvish either.

Why does she live there if she’s not chassidish? Did she become chassidish? Do her kids have crazeled peyos? Does her husband wear a shtriemel? Or they dress litvishe and she wears a Shpitzel?

I know a completely litvishe/yeshivish woman who wears a Shpitzel. Her family isn’t at all chassidish, they are just very erhlich. She took off her shaitel and went through different options of what to wear and decided on a Shpitzel (yes I know what a Shpitzel is) she happens to look amazing in it

They not chassidish but not litvish either. Her kids have curly peyos and her husband wears a shtreimel due to a yerushalmi background.
It's very weird in my opinion that she wears a shpitzel. She couldve put on a tichel just like her family but it was too nebby for her....

ETA, I highly doubt anyone would even remotely think that it resembles hair...it is so not hair looking that I’d be very surprised to hear anyone thinks it looks like hair...

Is the turban that's mostly worn at home only for chassidish women or do litvish wear it too?
