Teacher appreciation/ value

Asking as a principal - what are some ideas of things I can do for my teachers to make them feel valued and appreciated? Keep in mind that while I would love to double their salary, I’m not in charge of finances. I do have a tiny bit of wiggle room for appreciation $$, but not enough to give respectable bonuses. Thanks in advance!

Leave a note in their box that says "I noticed you doing x and I'm so impressed... "
I used to work for a principal that did this and it made all the difference!

Yes!! As a teacher myself I think this would be make me feel very valued!

Randomly having a coffee bar, or some danishes… showing that you care.
And the number 1 thing: Compliment them. No, it’s not obvious.

Cater a milchig brunch for them during school.

My school did that and it was so nice- pastas, salad, cookies, cakes...

If you make a melave malka its annoying to get out on a motzei shabbos, find a sitter (which they have to pay for...). At least if you do something during school hours its free on their end

One principal bakes for all of the teachers every R”Ch and puts them in their cubbies. Both principals leave notes and messages of appreciation quite often.

Teacher here.
So nice of you to ask and want to show more appreciation!
1. Observations with feedback. It makes us know that you actually see us and appreciate what we’re doing/how we do it. Shows that you actually know us.
2. Thank you notes for times that we go above and beyond, run a program, step out of our zone and help with something else
3. Coffee and snacks. Or lunch!
4. Gift card to local eatery to pick up lunch or dinner
5. Bringing me a snack or special drink to my classroom!

Food/ coffee.

Getting rid of any stupid paperwork requirements.

Backing them up when parents make unreasonable requests.

If they teach long chunks without a break or backup, stop in to see if they need anything (a chance to run to the bathroom or grab copies or fill water)

It’s always appreciated!
Going out on a motzei shabbos is a shlep we don’t want to think abt work on the weekend
and please stop walking in to observe us it’s just awkward especially if I’m teaching for 6 years and I know what im doing!

Agree with the above on regular small treats, personalised appreciation - verbal or notes, making things as easy as possible for them.
Please do come and visit my classroom. I’ve been teaching over 15 years and I’d love you to see what I think I’m doing well, and I’d also love constructive criticism. I prefer no warning so I’m not worrying about it all day, but some teachers may prefer warning.

I often say that teaching is like an artist laboring over a painting for many weeks and months and never getting to show it to anyone above the age of 8.
I work so hard and bh I’m successful at what I do. The kids generally have no understanding and parents see small snippets and even then most don’t understand in chinuch enough to appreciate the how and why .
So when a principle takes the time to notice what I do it really is so encouraging.
