So I went out to a restaurant that a bunch of influencers said how amazing the food is how great the place is. And that it’s reasonably priced. Me and my husband needed an outing and I told him let’s try this place , he was all for it we showed up the place was empty, we were sticking to the floor it was so dirty. I decided maybe the food is good well no whatever we ordered was gross . I was so disappointed I don’t go out often and I was hyped into believing more than one instagramer/influencer. How is this even allowed?

I've learned to not believe a thing they say. And only order stuff they promote if there are free returns.

Im sorry for your bad experience
Lesson of the day: Do not believe influencers. They get paid by the business to promote it.
And Im assuming that if they were to ask a shaila, it would probably not be allowed. Lying is never ok

They are nogeah b'davar. They are paid to promote a place or product. Some of them are honest and say they only promote what they love and mean it, others... not so much. I'm thinking about one women who said for various reasons she can not eat/drink a certain food/drink (staying vague) and then a few weeks later promoted it.
I also think it's true that the influencer you are referring to went and DID have a good experince, because the place went all out for her. How would she know otherwise? That's why real restaurant critics go out, pay for their own meals, and don't let the owner/manager know they are coming. Their job is to write the review based on their experince and they get paid no matter what.
An influencer is not paid for honesty, they are paid for exposure. They are in no way in the same league as an actual critic or reviewer.

when I got back I asked 2 people if they ever tried the place there answer was never again, so I wasn’t the only one with bad review. Also the place was dirty you think they scrubbed it down for the influencer I doubt it.

They sure did. Influencers don't mean our favor. It's about themselves and their money. They get paid to promote and give a good review, regardless if it's true or not.

I actually had the same thing happen once but on facebook. A group had gone to a new restaurant and everyone was ranting and raving about the food. I couldnt wait to go and try it, so one day I did. And the food was AWFUL. I private messaged one of the people who gave it a great review and he said everyone hated it. They just had to say nice things cuz the owner was right there and it was expected. Place closed soon after. Owner bashed the neighborhood saying they didnt support him. I wanted to tell him that people come for good food. The french fries were good, cuz that was the frozen kind. Thats it.

Actually, I believe it is each one of our own responsibility to assume the influencers received a high-quality product or a high-quality experience and are being truthful, and the general public may not have that same experience, but that they are not lying. Ie, being dan lkav zchus and all that... this is something I am really personally working on in many areas in my life and it frees up a lot of brain space. ETA - I realize I am kind of contradicting my other post with this one, really it's mussar to myself.

I follow a certain food influencer who went to a restaurant this week and gave an honest review even though it was sponsored.
Suffice it to say I won't be heading over.

But many do lie. A while back, an influencer was talking that she never uses a vacuum cleaner because a broom cleans the best. She only sweeps her home. I replied to that story that I thought I was the only one that only uses a broom at home... to which she replied "lol, my kids vacuum." Like it's some sort of joke. So she basically lied and made me feel like 2 cents. And I thought she was one of the honest influencers. We should take everything they say with a grain of salt.

I don't really agree with this. It's nice in theory but since many of us had the opposite experience we have reason to believe that they aren't really being truthful. You can fool me once...

I 100% agree with you, but then I think maybe I am the idiot because I actually work my tail off and don’t make nearly what they do. 🤷♀️

Not when they’re being paid to say so
Can we trust they’d actually give bad reviews if they were warranted? I don’t.

People! Please stop getting excited and swayed by bluff.
These instagrammers are being paid to make you buy stuff that you would otherwise never buy or frequent restaurants that deserve a rating of 0/5. They extoil the non existent virtues. Please do not fall into their trap and Web of lies.
