I like it too. I also like the shiur question, though I might phrase it differently. The thing is that without these questions, all you hear is "She's wonderful! Not to loud, not too quiet. Perfect balance!" About almost everyone. You have to ask questions like this to get actual answers.

Real question I was once asked about an out of town girl:

Would her family expect her and my son to fly in for yom tov? That could add a lot of stress to a marriage especially once there are kids which would cause shalom bayis issues

I heard this in a similar way but more logical- to find out her personality type.
Would she arrange a party, attend the party or rather stay home?
Is she loud/outgoing/sociable or an introvert?

Some of these questions are actually good questions, and you can tell a lot about the girl.
And some of them made me actually laugh out loud! Very Happy

To the question about the tights, I assume that was more of a tznius question, because generally the jewish brands are not as thin, and less see-through then the non jewish shops.

My son is in shidduchim. I called her seminary menaheles. After hearing general praises I asked the following questions: Did she come to class? Did she get along with the other girls/was she involved in any "drama"? Do you know of any mental health issues? That's it. I must be a bad mother.
