If only schools would have armed security guards, then this would be much less likely to happen.

Gun-free environments are very inviting to sick people and criminals.

I just heard that there was no guard at the school. Not even an unarmed guard. Wow.

Figured as much, like I've been saying.

@Jeanette- there was no armed or unarmed security at the school and the door was unlocked. The lack of security is a much more glaring issue than anything else.

Do all of your kids' schools have armed security guards at the entrance? I know mine don't. My mind goes to terrifying places after a tragedy like this. They do have the front door locked and visitors need to be buzzed in, but in some schools there is a known back entrance that's always open. And the main entrance door is officially unlocked during arrival and dismissal times. Why aren't we learning something and doing things differently?

My kids school has a security guard. Have you seen the state of these security guards? This isn’t The Rock guarding your children.

I think people will do anything to appropriate blame so that they maintain this illusion of control that this can’t possibly happen to them. The truth is that a guy with a few semi-automatics can’t be stopped by much of anyone.

I have definitely seen a lack of security at more right wing schools.

I send to right wing schools that do have armed guards at all entrances. My kids schools take security very seriously. One school (my boys schools) takes it more than the other (my girls school), but both do a good job securing the premises. Baruch Hashem.

My right wing school has 3+ armed security guards at all times.

The security guards at my kids schools are very on the ball. If the schools take security seriously and are willing to spend on it, they can usually secure quality personell.

But before I moved to this area, many moons ago, I sent to a school elsewhere that had really low standards for security. The entrance was unlocked (did not require visitors to be buzzed in) and the security guard was an unarmed older fellow (nice Jewish guy) who took breaks sometimes, so he wasn't always sitting at the entrance. I was super anxious about it.

This was about ten years ago. It actually really really bothered me. It seemed so stupid and reckless. But I find that often people don't like to rock the boat about things that their kids schools have been doing for years. Sometimes our community catches up to things a decade or two behind the times.

The security guards at many schools are former cops.

And if the door had been locked like it was supposed to, the killer would have had a much harder time getting in.

Like I said it wasn’t one factor. Many things went wrong in Texas.

Same for NJ. But schools are still often careless. Doors getting propped open because it’s inconvenient to have them locked, for example.

Most lkwd school have guard booths and guards. Many have gates. Some guards are better then others. Some are a joke.
My sons school had a full active shooter lockdown drill a few years ago. But that was it never repeated it.
Most of the guards seem like a joke.
In my sons school they have 2 separate set of doors to buzz you in. And the doors are locked. But the guard just waves to you from the guard booth. At least something.

In my daughter school the guard just props the door open. And shmoozes with visitors. It’s a joke. It’s nothing.

Yeah, that's when they put in the locked door that opens with a combination number or a buzz from the secretary.

Woke leftists dont want armed security guards because its "triggering" for some people. So I guess they would rather be vulnerable than be safe because the feelings of some people are more important than everyones safety. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ne......html

Real reason Woke Leftists don't want armed security guards at schools?

Because Woke Leftists WANT school shootings so they can DISARM us and go
Full Tyrant.

Woke Leftists want one solution and one solution only - GUN CONTROL.

Woke Leftists DON'T CARE ABOUT MURDER or other crimes.

Proof:

Woke Leftists REFUSE TO JAIL CAREER CRIMINALS - NO BAIL for CRIMINALS

STEALING MERCHANDISE IS NO LONGER PROSECUTED

Woke Leftists have UNLEASHED criminals to TERRORIZE USA Citizens.

I keep wondering what motivated the shooter. An 18 year old high school student.

He was already on law-enforcement's radar. He had a habit of cutting his face. He had a habit of shooting random people with BB guns.

So many mass shooters decide they want to be famous and known more than they want to be alive. I keep wondering about the role of social media in all this. What is that doing to our brains, to our priorities?
