For those who have a hard time remembering the recipe, I wrote a little poem to memorize with the steps:

To make saltwater for the seder is a difficult task,
But on Imamother I'm glad I thought to ask.

The steps are not to difficult, as you will soon see
They can be remembered by the letters S A L T.

"S" is for the steps you take to the nearest well
("Sink faucet" works too in a pinch, but be sure not to tell.)

"A" is for the ancient pole you'll need to stir the recipe
("Any spoon" is for lazy women who should hide shamefully.)

"L" is for the lovely white crystals you harvest from the sea
("Lieber's Kosher Salt" can be substituted in dire emergency.)

"T" is for the time you take to mix and whisk and shake
("Trust science" is when you let it dissolve on its own by mistake.)

Once you have your SALT in hand, be sure the water's temp does climb
Then pour in salt, one grain at a time, until it tastes sublime.

Stir and mix and whisk and shake, until the mixture's white
Then let it rest till it turns clear, that's how you know you got it right.

Serve fresh, for this fine recipe does not age like wine
And if it turns out well, remember that the credit's mine.
(And if it flops, IT'S YOUR OWN FAULT for forgetting a line.)

That's genius! Now I can memorize the poem so I should know it by heart comes next pesach

Our well got plugged up by the Russians- so gotta get a new well dug quickly.

Don't forget to get your pesachdik buckets ready - I assume you're making them yourself from scratch, using wood from trees that never had people sit and eat chametz under them?

Well duh 🙄
Obviously it’s a euphemism for my husband and son. I just didn’t want you to know that I can’t personally dig this year as I’m in early pregnancy with sextuplets and can’t do it myself. But now I had to spill the beans (bH beans are kitniyos- not chometz bec otherwise I’d be upset at the visual chometz floating around now).
I hope after my confession you can find it in you to reconsider and accept that we have the truest highest standards when it comes to pesach chumrahs.

Bucket free buckets - perfect! So...you just use your hands, or is there a special trick to this? Please share with the rest of us, so that we can bring this extra special zechus to our pre-Pesach prep

I'm pretty sure you just bring the whole well to the seder.
Or was it the whole seder to the well?

The reason I didn’t reply to this post is because I’m not sure yet if we can disclose this holy information. It’s a special Kabbalistic mehalach and you have to kind of prove your holiness and lofty levels before *blushing slightly modestly* Eliyahu Hanevi comes to reveal the method of collection.

My sincerest sorriest feeling for all of you umm mere mortals who unfortunately don’t fit into this description... that said- all is not lost- I’m sure if you reach out to Rabbi ZZZ and his choshuva Rebetzin tlita- our very own imamother poster known as Topmom- they can reveal the gilgul hasheleg or whatever you would need to qualify.

Hope to meet you at the well!

OMG. You all take the easy way out. Everyone knows that salt water is made by crying over a glass jar and filling it with your tears. Other fabricated salt water is a total cop out.

Is there a low sodium version for this recipe?
