Soul on fire

I left my teaching job at a Gan a couple of weeks ago. My husband has a chronic illness and he and my kids need me home. I am so happy to be home with my family but I feel a tremendous sense of loss from leaving a job that I enjoyed. I miss the kids so much and miss feeling like I was helping them grow. Also I really loved being part of the gan and interacting with the other teachers and the parents.
After the years of being there I saw today that they are finally moving to a different building which we have been longing for for years. Hence the FOMO (fear of missing out).
Has anyone dealt with basically being heartbroken from leaving their gan/school? How did you get over it?

That must be so hard.
I remember how sad I was at the end of the year when it was dc’s babysitter’s last day because I was sending dc to a playgroup the next year. I was so so sad and the babysitter was crying so much too. When I brought dc to playgroup I left the first day bawling at having to send dc to strangers when there was a babysitter who loved my dc so much…
It got easier with time

I am sorry for all that you are going through and happy that you found a way to make it work in the best way possible for you and your family. I cant answer your question, but I was wondering if there is a way you would still be available to go in to sub or volunteer occassionally. That way you can still keep up with what's going on without feeling completely out of it.

Thank you.

I have thought about offering to do that but the gan is over an hour away and financially it wouldn't be worth the gas to travel only occasionally. We were trying to move closer to the gan but that hasn't worked out for us. otherwise I would have went down to part time instead of leaving.
