What are the names of half-year seminaries in Israel?
Are they as hard to get into as regular seminaries or easier? Are they popular?
Anyone here (or your daughter/sister/niece) went and what were your experiences?
How much do they cost?
What kind of crowd do they attract?

We've hosted girls from Lahav for years but I have no contact info or details. All I know is that it's half year.

Lahav is an amazing seminary. They are the only half year program in Israel. Their first semester runs through mid January and then there’s an optional second semester through end of March. They basically condense a years worth of seminary into those initial 4 months. There are longer classes and lots of trips. A Lahav girl needs to be high energy as there is very little down time. Classes are Hashkofa based, there are tests but no reports. They have been attracting a more right wing bais Yaakov crowd these past few years. It’s a great program.

Also,to my knowledge, you need approval/to be invited to go for the extra months after January. My friend who sent her dd there was thrilled. Her DD only wanted half a year originally, and then decided on the extra months, and still got a leg up on her plans coming home and staying after Pesach.

Thanks. Do you know how much it costs? Is it hard to get into?
What do girls do once they come home mid year - start college in winter?

I heard they are full for next year. The cost is about half of what the full year seminaries are.

It is also hit or miss, some years the girls are amazing, some years not so much.

Sounds like a very smart idea - half the cost, all the trips.

Maybe not "all" the learning experience, but good enough.

Don't have to pay extra ticket to come home for Pesach and go back.

Can get started on college program, start shidduchim, etc.
