kids are funny they dont know what to say and when to keep quiet. I dont think it has anything to do with what his parents are teaching him. my dd is 5 and soemtimes she really embarrasses us with what she says.... but we laugh and move on.. dont take it personally tamiri

When my daughter was 5 she had a friend over and she acted as if she was home and chutzpah to me, etc. I couldn't believe it. She wasn't the only one of her friends that did that. That's one thing about my kids b"h, that when they go other places, the host always tell me how well they behaved. At home, not as much Crying

. Since I moved, we never had any incident with any friend b"h.

I don't take it personally but for a 9 yo to say such a thing. I maybe figured it out (our house is not small): his family recently moved into a brand new house they built and maybe it has more of an open plan... I don't know. Anyway, it just struck me as odd for a 9 yo boy to say that.

He was trying to make conversation, on from his end it was a mere observation. Possibly a faulty observation.

Don't take it personally. And don't blame his parents. There is no way of knowing whether these are the values they instill in their child. And when you can't know for certain - it is quite unfair to guess.

Yeah, I agree. He didn't see it the way you did.
Like the time I told someone I don't like a certain color clothes... without realizing she was wearing it shock

But I meant that it doesn't look good on ME. I totally didn't hear the way it sounded when I said it. And I'm older than 9. LOL

I've heard this one before...it doesn't always sound rude...I guess it depends on how one says it (and our place is so obviously small that such a comment is in place...)

Now if they said "I certainly hope you are rennovating...." ah-hem that would be not so appropriate (but that is true about us...)

I was just a bit surprised as I don't expect that from a 9 yo Israeli boy. And our house is not small. I wondered if he was trying to hint we are poor or something LOL.
Actually, before my son could react I told the kid that this size works for us (it's a 5 br....) Very Happy
