If I knew how to put pics up I could show you my daughter.
Her teacher called me yesterday and feels as though she is being neglected. Her hair always looks sloppy. Seems as though it isn't ever brushed. Her shirt is never tucked in. And she is sloppy. Which is funny because she is a neat freak at home just not with her school stuff.
I told the teacher when she leaves the house in the morning she is tip top. From head to toe, what happens on the hour and fifteen minute bus ride to school I can't control.
My husband and I decided my cutting her hair short in a cute style might help. And all she has to do is pin it up in the front with cute clips or bands.
Her hair is very straight, blond, and thin. Another reason I guess it keeps falling out of a pony a lot.
I need a style that would be good for a six year old.
According ot the teacher the girls make fun of her and are mean to her the way she looks. That is why we figured if her hair is much more under control she would look more presentable.
She is a beautiful girl I feel bad for her. In her school there are a lot of snobby girls there but to be already mean at this age???

Okay got a pic of her up. Maybe someone here knows of a style to her face? The person that I am going to use to cut her hair just finished learning about two months ago so she doesn't really know what is good for her face.

I can't see your pic because I don't have a facebook account. But I was a little girl with straight, fine, blond hair. I have pictures where there was more hair out of my ponytail then in!
I think a chin length bob is good for many face shapes, especially those with big cheeks (which I don't know if she has!) I preferred without the bangs, and then I clipped the sides back, and if stayed pretty nicely. Of course, depending on how your daughter prefers it, bangs might be nice because then clips would be extras and not needed.
I had an all one length bob, without layers or trouble. It was easy to fix and easy to cut, both good things for a 6 year old!
One problem with fine hair is that even after it's brushed, it stops looking brushed really soon. I could brush my hair and ten minutes later it looked stringy again. That's another reason for a short style.
And I got a "cool" brush that looked like a compact. When you open it, you can push out the brush part. Because I thought it was so cool, I brushed my hair more and it looked overall nicer. Maybe picking something like that out would help?
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I thought anyone can see the pic. I made it available for all to see. My daughters hair is just like yours. It is a pain. But it hurts me to think the teacher has a problem with my daughter based on how she looks. Which is understandable. And the girls in her class pick on her to the point one girl took a scissor and cut a piece of her hair, another took a marker and colored on her uniform shirt.
Hopefully cutting her hair would help out the situation.

the gorgeous little girl holding up the little boy? thats the hair they have a problem with?? did you try braiding it? would that keep it neater? or using the kind of pony holders that are tiny black elastics that dont slip & slide. I think her hair is gorgeous long. but if you do cut it I think I would start with just a chin length cut and see how it goes, if it helps and how it looks.

I COULDN'T SEE YOUR PICTURE. BUT WHAT I DO WITH SOME OF MY DAUGHTERS' HAIR- I PUT A DROP OF BABY OIL IN THE BATHTUB SO IT LEAVES THEIR HAIR MOISTURIZED AND MORE MANAGEABLE .( P.S. TOO MUCH BABY OIL MAKES IT LOOK OILLY AND UGLY). ANOTHER IDEA I READ ABOVE ABOUT THE BLACK TIGHT RUBBERS IS EXACTLY WHAT I USE-PLUS I USE DIPPUTY DO GEL OR SPRAY AFTER MAKING THE PONY TO KEEP THEIR HAIR NEAT ALL DAY. HATZLACHAH!

I agree. I think if you cut it short, it will just be a short mess. Spray it with a bottle of water and gel (or spray gel) comb and braid and use a tiny elastic.

when I was lil my mother always cut my hair short...(I hated it)..but when u keep cutting it, it grows back thicker....so it might be a good idea if her hair is thin...a short bob is a great idea, u can do with bangs or without

I couldn't see the photo, either.
Hopefully, the school's first step is going to be to deal with these other kids. I don't care *how* your daughter looks; their actions are unacceptable. It seems like the school is blaming the victim, which is unacceptable to me. As to the teacher .... Apparently your daughter *is* complying with the dress code. Some kids just have a more difficult time staying neat. Maybe its her build, which causes her shirt to come untucked.
A chin-length bob would be good for fine hair, as would a short pixie cut. Braids, especially French braids, would also be good. You can also go to the drugstore for some sort of finishing cream to put on her hair after its brushed in the morning. That would give it a little more body and some hold. If she likes a ponytail, get some pretty barrettes to hold the sides, and some of the small grippy elastics. What about a headband?

Has this teacher been teaching for a long time? I do afternoon pickup every afternoon for my boys in kindergarten and PRE1A and I don't think there is a boy who doesn't come out with his shirt untucked and his tzitzis hanging in 4 directions! Some teachers just have no clue (like my friend's daughter's teacher who heard my friend was planning to invite over child X and said she's too cool and popular for my friend's dd (who was 4 or 5 at the time!))
If you go for a haircut, it's worth paying a little more to go to someone who really knows how to style and after your friend who just learned can help you keep it up.

I recently had DD's hair cut in a layered bob - its so cute on her - she wears it with a head band usually n it really thickened up her hair

The teacher has been a teacher for over 25 years. I need to speak to the teacher sometime tonight before she goes to school tomorrow. I like the idea with those rubberband pony's maybe she wont even think twice about taking them out of her hair in school.
I think I would cut her hair if it will make her hair thicker. Oy now I am all confused. I love long hair but she doesn't look put together when her front of her hair is flying. Like someone else said maybe short might make her look more messier??

That is my daughter that they have a problem with. I tried to french braid it but the whole front and sides slip out. Another problem is that one of my sils without my permission layered her hair so it is making matters worse too.

cutting hair can definately make it thicker I did it to my daughters and it really helps but I wouldnt necessarily cut bangs as they need to be cut all the time and if u ever want to grow them out the are a real pain. maybe try cuting a bit before u cut it really short see what happens and if ur not happy slowly go shorter with it, I did that with my daughters hair slowly cutting the length off till I was happy with the length

For very thin hair, the tiny rubbers (the Goody brand makes a variety called Ouchless) really work. Most of the time, to get it out requires ruining it so they’re quite disposable. But they really do stay in, even the tiniest of hairs.
I just cut my 3 yo’s hair because it was falling into everything, nice golden glorious curls. So now she has a chin length style that thickens nicely and waves too. I gather the few pieces that would normally be bangs, and pull it to the side with a rubber. Then, I twirl the hairs with water and when it dries, it’s a curl down the side of her face. Yum.
Regarding clothes, it’s important to get foolproof clothes for kids. Dd has mostly dresses, and my son has sweaters only, no shirts. Like that, he’s always untucked, yet neat!
