I haven't bought a new shaitel in over 12 years. I see the natural looking pieces that everyone is wearing. I'm finally treating myself to a new shaitel. I would love to feel current and in fashion. Can someone pls explain what's everyone is wearing. are they lace fronts or lace tops ( regardless I would line it so it's not see thru) I'm not even sure what that means entirely. Can someone give a quick explanation of the current pieces that everyone seems to be wearing. Thank you!!

Most people are getting ribbon not lace. Ribbon lies flat and looks natural. It's not as expensive as lace and anyhow lace is assur. Don't downgrade your head covering after 12 years!

It’s not accurate to say that most people are getting ribbon. I only see lacetops wigs where I live. Many rabbanim are totally fine with lace wigs. Take your judgement and inaccurate information elsewhere, thanks.
Op if you know someone who has a wig that you like the look of, ask them what type of wig they have.

Definitely do a consult with a sheitel macher, and maybe bring a friend who is in the know with you, try some things on for how they look and feel. You can find out what your rav holds about lace. On a practical level, lace can be a bit finicky and take some time to get used to (you can't tug on it, can stretch, you need to kind of respect it)- and of course, it gives you a look a lot of people want.

lace is the most updated look
there are different ways to line the lace to make it
Lace shaitels require a lot of money invested every few months to keep them
looking perfect
otherwise they will look ok but not amazing

What do you mean a lot of money invested every few months? My Lacetop I had for over 2 years before it needed a small repair of $25.
