I brought chicken drumsticks instead of chicken wing for chicken soup. Does it make a difference in taste?
How do people make sweet chicken? I make my chicken soup chasidish style (broth and a carrot. Sometimes a matzo ball with noodles depending.) so the chicken is usually eaten plain by my husband or tossed out.
I’ve had this sweet chicken at other peoples homes, and usually the chicken is a dark reddish-brown color, and has a sweet taste hope someone knows what I’m talking about!
Thanks.

Apricot Glazed Chicken:
Mix together 3 tbs of each: apricot jam, ketchup, and onion soup mix. Add 1 tbs of lemon juice. Spread over chicken legs and bake. Uncover pan for last 20 minutes.

It’s fine to use drumsticks, it may taste a little different but still delicious.
I think the sweetness and darkness in soup probably comes from extra vegetables, parsnip adds sweetness , as does sweet potato (but keep it whole so it doesn’t collapse).
The bits of the chicken I shred and add to the soup and the kids love it. You can also keep it for chicken pies and things like that.

Drumsticks should be fine in the soup. You might be able to take them out after and shred some of the meat to return to the soup.
I make a sweet and easy roast chicken.
Cut an onion into rings and place on the bottom of a 9x13.
Add chicken. Mix garlic powder, onion powder, paprika and salt, and rub the spice mix under the skin.
Pour a can of cranberry sauce over everything.
Bake covered on 350 for at least two hours. So good.

You can also do duck sauce chicken :
Lay sliced onions at the bottom of the pan.
Put chicken legs on top
Season skin with , paprika, onion powder, onion powder, and salt to taste
Generously spread sweet and sour duck sauce on top
Sprinkle sesame seeds (optional)
Bake covered 375 for 1.5 hours and uncover and baste the chicken with the sauce every 10 minutes for another half hour.

You can put gold's sweet and sour ducksauce on the chicken (unless you like hot and spicy ducksauce better) and bake it at 350.
Drumsticks are fine for chicken soup too

Sweet chicken is very often duck sauce chicken. Season chicken with garlic and salt. Pour half a jar duck sauce over chicken. Bake uncovered at 375 for 1 hour and 15 minutes until brown and slightly caramelized.

I’ve never put wings in my soup. Either chicken quarters or a whole chicken. You’re good. Might not have as much fat.

BH! My husband discovered a bag in the freezer with frozen chicken thighs.
I’m using the drumsticks for the regular chicken part.
Thanks so much for the recipes! We’ll get the sauce tomorrow iyH

Necks make the best soup. Pet them in a soup bag for easy removal.
Any chicken can be used in soup. It’s the bones snd skin that give the flavor. If you use the drumsticks for the soup, they would be perfect to eat erev Shabbos.
I’d use the thighs for the main. It’s my family’s favorite part.
