My brother's bar mitzvah is coming up and we need to get something for him. We are also on a tight budget. I was thinking a gift card to a Judaica store but he is not the yeshivish/learning type so I am not sure how much use that would be. Any suggestions?

A personalised Swiss army knife is one of my son's favorite gifts.

A personalised tie hanger.

A nice pen set with his name on it.

Or a good interactive jewish book like 'what if' that he can use at the shabbos meals.
He can exchange it if he wants to at the judaica store that you bought from.

What does your brother like? Need? Want? Hobbies?

Bar mitzvah isn't a personality trait.

Think about who he is as a person... And you'll find a gift idea

Some of my son's favorites:

Gucci wallet
Shoeshine kit
Swiss army knife that is also a blow torch
A full set of mishnayos
Some really beautiful English language picture 'seforim'. To me they look more like coffee table books. A breathtaking set on the bais hamikdash, another on holy places in Israel with the loveliest pictures.
A silver and crystal Kiddush cup
A dungeons and dragons book
A DS (from my parents 😎)
The living emunah series

Just want to mention if he is not the Yeshivish learning type, don’t do a judaica gift card. My son got some of those and had absolutely nothing he wanted to buy.
