Ok, ok...I just read first person accounts on Yeshiva World and someone said that people were screaming and begging and dying and the police just stood and watched and refused to open a blocked entrance which would have released a huge amount of people...I am going from crying to extreme anger, I can't see straight get up and see to my kids...is this cruelty true? Can someone PLEASE help me calm down?

Oy please donā€™t jump to the worst conclusions. Many are explaining that there was tremendous confusion about what was actually happening. It was so fast. Itā€™s likely that they were afraid that if they let out a large group out en masse a greater tragedy could have occured RL with a stampede spreading to more parts of the mountain. They were doing their job. They didnā€™t know right away what was happening. Just daven and accept.

I find it so horrible I want to enjoy the day of lag baā€™omer and erev Shabbos but I just canā€™t Iā€™m still thinking about it. And when I scroll down my feed on social media of newspapers I see people texting things like ā€œwhy sad? They kill Palestinian babies just for fun so Iā€™m not sad for a few dead people thereā€ ugh šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Something that I'm hearing that's important, IMO, is that it can't be business as usual for us this Lag B'Omer. I haven't brought myself to listen to music yet.
But it's erev Shabbos. You have Shabbos to produce and family to take care of. Do what you need for menuchas hanefesh to do these important functions effectively. I would recommend yes, listen to music but for today, don't read those social media feeds. You won't be able to come up with the proper nusach to make these tools, probably many of them evil tools, rethink their stances. Don't even try today.

According to what I'm reading from people who were there- a few people fell, so police closed it for a few minutes to help them.
The people in the back just saw it being closed by police but didn't know why.
When they reopened, the people began pushing forward together and people began falling and sliding on top of each other.

That makes sense now, just so much impossible confusion in these situations. Easy for us to judge from the comfort of our homes. I'm sure we understood more from reading social media than many who were there last night, they must have just been so, so confused.

Thank you for giving me clarity. Some things are just meant to be. Hashem, please make the messages from this entire year clear to us...we are ready to hear and return to You, just help us understand what to do...

Come on. Police didnā€™t literally just watch people die and stand there. Then did CPR? I donā€™t believe that for a second. Likely as others said it happened so fast it took a couple minutes to realize what was happening.

I canā€™t stop crying.

And yet I need to understand. Iā€™ve been in crowded places. If people start falling and a person nearby falls onto the person next to him, thereā€™s injury but not death. Everyone falls in place. Was it a mountain of people falling downhill so the people on the bottom had many people falling on top of them? I donā€™t want to look at any photos or videos, Iā€™m still traumatized from people falling or jumping out of the south tower on 9/11.
