Question - if a mother lo aleinu dies in childbirth, is it customary to name the daughter she was birthing after her? I can't even imagine that TBH.
I`m sure he painted all those pictures when Libi was alive, which is why he doesn't want to sell saying those pictures are all that's left. He could paint wishful thinking pictures anytime!

Reminds me of the opening episode of the first season when he (or was it Shulem?) imagines his mother/wife....
she couldn't have died in childbirth because she is saying "I would like to go back to breastfeeding" and also there is a picture by Aktiva where she is lying in bed with a baby, that doesn't look like its immediately after giving birth

Libi died when the baby was a few months old.
The show was always full of flashbacks and "ghosts" of the past.
Remember Elisheva with her 2 dead husbands, Shulem with his wife talking to him?
Akiva is arguing with Libi in his head about whether its worth selling the paintings, which are all he has left of her, in order to have a house. In the end, he decides not sell and moves back in with his father. So basically we are back to square one where Akiva is a bachelor living with his widowed father except now they have a baby with them too.
So I did not see the previews that others mentioned but I just watched segments of the show again and there is no way that the baby is 18 months old. More like 8 months, which is when the gallery director said that Libi had passed away. Libi does say in the beginning that she wants to nurse the baby again, even just once, which suggests that she did not die during childbirth itself, but soon thereafter. My guess would be a complication following birth like an amniotic fluid embolism or maybe she had a C section and there was an infection afterwards.

No, she did die. At the art exhibition Kaufman says the artist is widowed 8 month by that time, so we know she died, do it would seem that the car ride to the exhibition with libi was a flash back and I actually think that he finally sells his art work after she dies as he sees that she was right, that they needed the money to live. I think he takes a taxi to his father because he realizes that, after libi died, he cant make it on his own, that he needs his father's hlp.

It's ironic that when he needed financial assistance and Shulem opened up his home to him he refused him, but now - even though he now has money to pay the rent from selling the paintings - he decides to move in with his father. Now he needs him for emotional support.

it was Kives dream in the first season, and
the opening episode of second season also starts with a dream, now its Shulem’s dream about his deceased mother. In the third we are back to Kives dream again
