Does anyone have any updates?
Campaigns on the Chessed Fund this is the most recent:
https://thechesedfund.com/ches.....aff=1
Did the previous 2 meet their goals?
How many girls are there?
Some things in the stories seem very vague just wondering if anyone has any info.

Never heard of this. The link you posted is suspiciously low on facts. Why were they going to Bulgaria? Was this during the covid pandemic (who travels now anyway?)?
Who is the sultry woman in the photo?
Looks like some sort of scam to me.

DrMom I think its kind of offensive to claim as a scam, what if it true? it can be hurting family & friends.
also it is verified by chesed fund. if it doesn't seem authentic you are not obligated to give, but don't minimize it by claiming it as a scam.
I also wonder if its associated with this https://thechesedfund.com/ches.....ff=62

It's "offensive" to say that a suspicious chessed ad looks like a scam?
Feel free to prove me wrong about the ad being fake, but "offensive?" Let's stop this nonsense.

Exactly what part of my post was nonsense? all I said IF IT IS indeed true it can really hurt, just imagine it's your DD and people on here commenting "Nah, that's looks like a scam".

they were probably carrying ghat. It's legal in Israel, but not in most other countries.

I found the story very strage when it came out originally.
How did they not know it was illegal?
Many times when someone os asked to take sonething, like this, for someone else, they know its illegal.
They hope they wont get caught.
Im sorry they did get caught. But I am also pretty sure they knew what they were doing.
Yes, its sad about being in jail but as the saying goes, you do the crime, you do the time.

Not necessarily true at all. If its ghat they were carrying, its legal in Israel. The dealers convince them that even though its not allowed in other countries, the worst thing that will happen is that they get turned back or it gets confiscated. These are smooth talking operators who prey on young, naive girls. Often girls who have left their homes and are desperate for money.

Whether they thought they weren't getting caught, or whether they were extremely naive - these are not the criminals of the century. If they were importing heavy drugs then we would have all heard about it, so I can only assume it was something like ghat, or something like large quantities of cigarettes which needed to be taxed. If the authorities want to go after the guy who gave them the suitcase - by all means. But these girls were just mules, and probably clueless ones at that. Let them go.

Is it maybe that Edel and Odel is the same girl?

I was writing under the influence of insomnia, so that didn't occur to me. Nice catch. I also found this https://www.mako.co.il/women-w.....7.htm It does appear to be the same girl.

I asked DH if he's heard about this story. Says he hasn't but heard of countless other stories the same.
The Israeli government does nothing because it's so common. He personally knows 2 separate people who also took gat somewhere where it's illegal.
It is usually a 5 year sentence. The 15 might be because it was a larger amount.

I also know 2 people who got no time at all or suspended sentences but not after a lot of trouble and expense and time waiting for a trial. I think age was a factor in the leniency.
https://www.timesofisrael.com/.....drug/
lots of similar articles.
Not sure why the Israeli government is not doing anything to stop this. I am sure the embassy staff are sick and tired of these cases. Just a simple warning in the airport when seeing suitcases full of khat and nothing else would help.
