They were mondroe. And I believe that Yesodei Barzel was the other 9th grade (bp?).
And the next year was Alos Hashachar and Tzeis Hakochavim.
And (Malky?) Goldman was the headteacher one of these years.
Trying to remember more.
What was your sisters name? |
Wasnt it, zoogts es nuch, גג ועלי?
I still remember this but cant remember which age I was. Goldman was my headteacher too but I recall she was twice. Maybe once for the younger kids and the year later the older ones? And esty fekete, who recalls?

iirc she was 9th grade teacher, then 2nd transport headteacher. it had to be after gag valeya, bec. she's my age and I'm quite sure we were in 10th grade then.

Could be. Im totally drawing a blank with what happened when. I know she was my head teacher for sure (maybe in 7th grade?) and my 9th grade class was p’techei choisem. Everyone loved her to bits.

אוצרות פארשטעקט!

יהלום אנטפלעקט!
פארהאנען... אוצרות!
So from that year every single year the ante was upped, with the blown-glass signs in the lunchroom, strobe lights, insane choreography... my sister was 9th grade teacher of גג ועלי' the summer I was a working girl and you have no idea how many times I ran to Kohn's fabric store to buy her a bolt of something and put it on the Camp Bus.... I dont think my sister slept taht entire summer. T Ihe pressure to outdo and outshine the other class got worse every single year. It had to burst at some point. And I think it did, they started doing 3 9th grade classes instead of 2... |
I remember this cheer! They rocked the camp! But I'm from bp, so I was a HOT berekes backer!

I know your name but I have to figure out who your MIL and aunts are. I'll check my emails to jog my memory.

amother [ Sienna ] wrote: | One of the amazing wonders of Rav Tov always was, despite the conditions and standard, the camp always attracted the most girls and was the largest girls camp! |
Eh, it didnt attract anyone.... you couldnt go to another camp. or you didnt want to. Like, there were the odd girls here or there who went to different camps -- I had a friend who went to Camp Adar Hatorah when she was younger, and she shlepped me to the camp reunions, we thought it was teh coolest thing ever, and everyone was crazy over a lady named Chips.
But by and large you wanted to go to camp with your classmates. So Satmar girls all went to Rav Tov.
You didnt find any non-satmar girls in Rav Tov. I had one classmate who brought her Viznitz cousin (until viznitz had their own camp), and there were a few girls from Lakewood, Montreal, and Tosh in camp. But if you werent a satmar girl you were very out of place bc everyone came with their classmates.
also, thre were no neutral camps. all chasidish camps were school-based. Once camps like Machaneinu, Chaya Sura etc opened, there wree more options to go to non-school-based camps. But when I was growing up, the only camps out there were Satmar, pupa, Belz and Bobov!

Over shabbos I finally remembered the name of our transport. We were massa I’matan. This was the year of the fire 2002. My class was hamalach hanuiven. Our cheer went something like “hamalach hanuvuin mir firen di machna.... hamalach. Pause. Hanuiven. Pause. Then yelled “firt machna rav tov!”
The year before was yerranani. My bunk was paamuin zuhuv. I remember a class al hashminis, b’minim v’iguv & b’tziltzelei shema And part of some of their cheers!
