1 large onion
7 large potatoes or equivalent, one of them grated
1 can of white beans
1-2 lb meat such as chuck roast, flanke or brisket
5 seconds of ketchup(!)
About a tbsp salt but I really don’t know. A few good shakes of pepper, paprika, garlic
A pinch of cumin
Cover a bit less than fully with water

You can use your regular recipe and substitute rice for barley if you have a recipe that you know works...here is mine (roughly- I don't really measure)
1 onion diced
1/2 C dried cholent bean mix (or more if you like beans)
1/2 C lentils
3/4 C rice (I use arborio, but any rice works)
1 lb meat
4-5 potatoes, peeled and quartered
1/4-1/2 C onion soup mix (Pesach/gluten free if you can get it-otherwise you can omit, and use salt and pepper instead (1-2 t each)
1/3 C ketchup
2-3 T garlic powder or minced garlic
1/4 C italian dressing (optional)
I put the ingredients in in the order above. Cover with water and cook...(I don't mix it at all).
Enjoy!

I use brown rice instead of barley! Delicious!
Make your regular recipe!
You can't even tell the difference!

Make your regular cholent recipe and use short grain brown rice or white sushi rice in place of barley. They are round and give that sticky consistency like barley does.

No measurements but make your regular chulent and just omit the following:
BARLEY
SOUP MIX that contains flour (gluten)
KISHKE
Check if your bar b que sauce or ketchup or soy sauce is gluten free.
some people put in rice instead of barley, but I just skip it. I also use tiny navy beans so it
looks similar to barley

One of the reasons I want exact measurements is so my kids can make the cholent.
They are eager to do it but I can only turn the job over to them if I have exact measurements.
We just want with the basics: beans, potatoes, meat, rice (and spices usually paprika, garlic, and salt).
If anyone has something basic like this with exact measurements would be extremely helpful

DD4 has celiac. We pour half a can of white beans in tomato sauce in a tiny pot with cubed potatoes and some chunks of meat. Also the regular spices. Often a small sweet potato on top. That’s it.
She likes it and her siblings add the extra beans to their plates.
I actually made GF kishke this week. We’ll see how it is...
