As long as this thread is still alive I wanted to ask a couple more questions.
1. For those of you who are part of the alrger Chassiduses (Ger, Belz, etc) is ther personal connection to your Rebbe through a long family connection? How is the personal connection with the Rebbe created and maintained?
2. When and if someone marries outside of the Chassidus they grew up in how does it feel? Do you feel like an outsider? Is there a lot of adapting involved.
Thanks

first I heard it used was by the poster shira, whose husband is learning in kollel (not chasidish)
it's not generally used in yeshivish circles
seems like it comes from the MO crowd who move to the right, like Shira |
here's another example:

I wonder also because I am sure that they have loads of beautiful things to say about the way they live.
I strongly believe in "Ayzeh who chacham halomed me kol adam".

Do you get involved in the money matters of the house or do you leave that to your husband since your primary role is that of the homemaker and mother?

Do you mean if we pay the bills, or if we have a say in what we spend on?

meaning do you know how much money is in the bank? does he pay bills on time? do you know how much debt you are in? how responsible is he about paying bills on time? or do you just trust that all is being taken care of since that's his job?

Why is this different by Chassidim than any other group? I don't think this is a Hasidic issue at all. There will always be women who do know, and women who are not involved, in all groups of the world.

bills have nothing to do with chassidish or not. depends on what u and ur husband decide what works for you. I know what is going on in the bank, but my dh takes care of the bills, because he is more responsible and organized than me.
but in many homes, its the opposite. depends what works for ur marriage. does not depend on chassidish or not.

ok I didnt really read all the pages...I dont have that much patience...but if I read correctly someone said that an outsider walking in willi will get stare..I think this is true but I think its true about any commuinty..a chassdish (looking) lady walking..say..in the five towns will also get stares...I thiink some chassidim rock and some bring an ebraasment to the word chassidish ...but then again u have that with every group of people..

actually, I dont know how much money is int he bank and how high our bilsl ar BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO KNOW. I'm not the breadwinner in our family, and I dont want to worry about how all the bills will get paid. I'm glad dh takes care of the bills, and that's all.

I don't think the bills / money issues have anything to do with chassidish, it's totally a personality thing, every couple has some with the woman more organized and paying the bills. Also given that today many many chassidishe women are working they're completely involved in the money issues anyway.

Regarding the "shpitzel": some people have a minhag not to wear a sheitel, so when going out instead of wearing a sheitel they wear a silk tichel with the shpitzel, some concoction (for lack of a better word) with either silk fabric or silk threads in the front, in dark brown usually.
