I don't really wear a sheitel much, and all I have is a EHH fall. I used to wear it more frequently, but it started knotting like crazy in the back underneath the hair. it mats so bad I can't get out the knots, or rather clumps (!!) without breaking the hair. I feel bad because I barely got any use out of it, but I can't afford to buy anything else now so I don't wear it so I can preserve it for simchas and when I eat out for shabbos. I spent a decent amount of money on it and now it's thinning out and falling apart. it's 1.5 years old, but I have work it probably less than 100 times. is this normal? or did I waste my money???

This happens a lot with Shevy's. I sent mine back and they will do a treatment on it. It's usually a conditioner that makes the hair slippery. I would contact the person you bought it from even if it was a while ago. The company should stand behind their product.

of course I comb it before and after!!
I have washed it, and used a lot of conditioner. I also sometimes send it to a fancy salon to get done and the same thing happens.

Why is it that it happens with Shevy's? I have one (and have the same problem) but before I bought mine I asked around a lot and was promised over and over that Shevy's are amazing. Well, I spent a fortune on a Shevy fall (more than I spent on my full sheital!!) and it knots constantly. As has been recommended to me- call them up. Many companies will stand by their products and make sure you are happy.

MMEC123, did you call Shevy? did you send yours back? I did. I gave it to the sheitalmacher and she sent it back for me.
BTW, there are several not Jewish companies that sell sheitals. Have you ever googled "wigs" on the internet? There are tons and tons of companies. I obviously would rather buy from a Jewish source but you would be amazed at the number of choices out there. Are Jewish companies really giving us a fair price?

My second shaitel I hardly wear. (better to say----never!) as it gets frizzy and after 4 or 5 wears past a wash/blow doesn't look special/nice anymore.
Is it too late to call the shaitel macher who sold/cut it for me 9 months ago to tell her how unhappy I am with it?
Didn't do it until now bec. it took me time to realize how I didn't like it. Kept on thinking it had to be rewashed/blown etc...... however I'd wait three months between each wash & blow, regardless that I wasn't wearing it!
Please let me know wether I have a right to call back after 9 months or not? AND what (from your experience) would a typical response be to me?

Not yet...My problem is, I moved to a new city right when I got married and never go back to the old one so the sheital macher there won't help me. Do you have Shevy's number (and how long does it take, I don't want to be stuck without a sheital for too long)?
Re: non-Jewish wigs- I thought I once heard that you're not supposed to buy from them. Is that true or did I hear wrong? Anyone know?
