I guess that's the one mailah of having only one freezer: there's no way food can stay that long there. If anything by Pesach it's gone and probably way before because there's just not enough room to keep things in there too long.

I made the ice cream pie with the peanut butter-chocolate topping for shabbos, and while it came out delicious, it was very difficult to slice & to eat. In fact we all ended up just picking up our pieces & eating it that way (kind of like the way you'd eat a slice of pizza) LOL . We had guests so I was a bit embarrassed .

Does this happen when everyone else makes it? Any suggestions on how to avoid this? By the way, I did let it defrost a bit before serving. Also, I don't know if this makes a difference, but I used homemade ice cream instead of store bought.

Homemade ice cream is radically different than the store bought kind.

I know!

I got nervous when I saw this thread was active. It's been such a long stressful weekend, I got confused and thought that maybe it was Thursday!

I agree, but that still doesn't explain why the topping came out so hard. Or is that just how it's supposed to be?

(Greeny & Defy, sorry for disorienting you by reviving this thread yet again!)

I don't think so. The topping for me never got that hard. It was very much caramely in texture.

I make stuffed chicken, but I usually by boneless chicken bottoms, with the skin on, and stuff them, and bake them in spices and gefens sweet and sour duck sauce. It heaven, if you can marinate it for bit its even better. YUM now I am in the mood!

If I run out I also sometimes make my own. I mix together some mayo, dijon mustard, crushed garlic or garlic powder, lemon juice and some sugar.
