Is your concern going to a salon to get this done?
Or is the concern the waxing procedure itself? (I don't see any reason for concern there)
Can you do it yourself at home if you are being extra-careful about coming into close contact with others?

You are not overreacting!
Waxing particurlary on the face is out!
If you must do it for some reason then ask them about their hygienic system and make sure the person washes her hands well and does not breathe close to your face.
Seriously, I'd skip it. And I do not say that lightly.
Best to look into DIY kits for waxing, manicures and pedicures and the like.
Cut your risk when you can.
