Just to put this out there... That there are most likely many many people walking around with this virus, which can get better on its own, just like the flu. I don't believe there were any deaths reported for people under 48. The people who have died have other preexisting health conditions (just like there are thousands and thousands of people who die from the flu as well). We need to wait and see for more information...

The wife, son, daughter and a neighbor of a Westchester County man who tested positive for the novel coronavirus have also contracted the virus, according to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Yeshiva University, where the man’s 20-year-old son attends school, said in a statement that it was informed of the positive COVID-19 test result on Wednesday morning, and as a result, has canceled all classes on Wilf Campus in Washington Heights for the day, including in-person graduate courses and a boys’ high school.

The latest confirmed cases involve a friend of a 50-year-old New Rochelle man who was diagnosed Tuesday with the virus. Cuomo said the friend is also a man who lives in New Rochelle. He and his wife, two sons and a daughter also tested positive for the new coronavirus. There is another daughter in the family but she tested negative for the virus. The family is isolated in their home, officials said.

The children attend Westchester Torah Academy, which closed earlier this week.

Three children who tested positive Wednesday for the coronavirus are students of the Westchester Torah Academy in White Plains.

The school was already scheduled to be closed through Friday as a precaution, but the governor said they may have to re-evaluate that decision.

Sorry but I am 48 . And have lots of friends who are over 48 . And relatives . And young people with preexisting health conditions . We all want to be healthy and live many more years. Those talks are not making me feel any better . Nobody that I know died from the flu .

At least two New York area high schools closed Tuesday after a suspected case of the COVID 19 coronavirus in the local community.

SAR Academy and SAR High School said in a statement that it was a precautionary measure, following guidelines from the New York City Department of Health. The school is located in the Bronx neighborhood of Riverdale, according to its website. It’s a modern orthodox Jewish High School, according to its Facebook page.

Another Jewish school outside New York City, Westchester Day School, also announced it would be closed Tuesday due to the potential case at SAR. Westchester Torah Academy was also reportedly closing.

It wasn’t precautionary. It’s because the son of the frum man who is infected has a child in that school.

Its precautionary because other than that child, there are no known cases at SAR.

WTA students (and presumably faculty) are in quarantine for the next week or more. While family members who do not attend the school may come and go, the students are house-bound, and no outsiders can go into the home.

As has been widely reported, there are three confirmed cases associated with a private school in White Plains, Westchester Torah Academy. The three students who tested positive are the children of the man who is a friend of and spent time with the original patient. Westchester Torah Academy has been closed until March 16 and the NY State Department of Health has required all students, faculty, and staff to isolate themselves at home through that date. The re-opening of the school is conditional on whether any new positive COVID-19 cases are identified.

Another WTA Student has tested positive

The city revealed on Sunday that a Bronx resident tested positive. De Blasio said Monday that she is 7 years old, attends Westchester Torah Academy (which has been tied to a cluster of cases in Westchester), has no pre-existing conditions and is quarantined in her home.
