At least two New York area high schools closed Tuesday after a suspected case of the COVID 19 coronavirus in the local community.

SAR Academy and SAR High School said in a statement that it was a precautionary measure, following guidelines from the New York City Department of Health. The school is located in the Bronx neighborhood of Riverdale, according to its website. It’s a modern orthodox Jewish High School, according to its Facebook page.

Another Jewish school outside New York City, Westchester Day School, also announced it would be closed Tuesday due to the potential case at SAR. Westchester Torah Academy was also reportedly closing.

Is their plan to stay closed indefinitely? Parents must be thrilled.

They're closing just for today. Then, tonight they will inform parents whether or not they are reopening tomorrow. The buses were actually rerouted to take all the kids home when they were otw.

So it sounds like its 5 schools closed -- SAR Academy, SAR High School, Westchester Torah Academy, Westchester Day. And I cannot imagine that WDS closed without Westchester Hebrew High.

Is anyone interested in saying tehillim for the sick man?

Yeshiva World posted his tehillim name: אליעזר יצחק בן שפרה (Eliezer Yitzchok ben Shifra)

May he have a speedy recovery.

Likely they will disinfect the school and busses then reopen. Those students and staff who were in proximity of the man affected will need to self quarantine.
I hope he has a mild case.

No one knows according to that link.

The Westchester County man — an attorney who commutes to work in Manhattan — had no direct connection with any known countries at the center of the novel virus, he said on LI News Radio.

Refuah Shleima! I hope he gets better soon.

I just liked the post upthread wishing him a refuah shleima but then unliked it. Before I read your post I was going to quote that post and say that any like should be presumed to = at least one perek of Tehillim, which I already said.
