I thought the same thing....haven't noticed it lately, though. maybe it goes away with time...maybe it's teeth coming in?

The only time I noticed babies having bad breath is the day after they have sugar. It's still the same way with my three year old. I know you said they are only nursing. I just wanted to add me two cents.

update: it came for a day and I haven't smelled it since. I do remember my first baby going through the same thing- one day I smelled it and the next day it was gone.

nicole as for thrush- I put the purple stuff on the tounge like doc recommended - it doesnt help.

my two older boys had bad breath when using a pacifier. the continuous sucking all night would cause it.

Just to add here -
my son is 12+ months old. I would like to start brushing his teeth, as I think he may get bad breath sometimes. Bad teeth runs in my family and I would really like him to avoid the mouth of silver I have! (or false teeth like my parents!).
Anyone know how to start such a young child on brushing? My dentist said I should just put a drop of tootpaste on a brush...but will my baby let me brush his teeth??

Try it out, you never know. My son is the same age as yours and he loves when I "brush" his "teeth".

brachad check out the baby aisle in your neighborhood drugstore. They sell special kits from baby age through toddler age (before teeth - just gums and first teeth). Good habits like this are great to start early - kol hakavod!!

it was actually a liquid, with A LOT of sugar in it so the baby wouldn't mind so much!
