?!?!
If that's what you (and others) think it's like, boy, what brainwashing has been going on in the media!

I have not been brainwashed by the media. I have a teenage daughter myself. I'm just speaking from experience. And for the record, my teenage girl is wonderful and on a rebellion/hostility scale from 1 to 10, she'd be a 1 (the lowest). But she certainly does have her moods, and she definitely does get hormonal. I think that is perfectly normal, and parents need to not take occasional emotional outbursts personally. (But what happened to the OP was beyond the acceptable "outburst" range, obviously.)

[qI've tried incentives for good behavior....a new book or shirt or skirt....no improvement. uote]
read the book "the blessing of a skinned knee" for a diff. perspective on getting kids to do things.
also, I strongly agree with the poster who mentioned that it is very scary for a child to feel more powerful then the adult - so please try to get a grip on the situation. even just talking with her about it so she knows you are thinking about and trying to solve her problem - don't ignore her because she may think you don't care.[/quote]

This is a forum for advice for normal situations. What you have is not a normal situation. It may be that what happened to her is not something major in the grand scheme of things, but something is going on with this child. I overstated the possibility of molestation, because it's one of the scarier possibilities.
Something has happened to your daughter that you and she are not able to deal with.
Get her to a therapist.
Don't wait. Don't read some self-help books and hope for the best.
Get help. It's been six months, the situation is not going to go away.
