Anyone have a good recipe for mock shwarma? Someone gave me a recipe a really long time ago and I can't find it. Something to the effect of chicken strips, onion, cumin.........
All ideas welcome.

It sounds like what you have written sounds about right. You could even use leftover chicken and put it in the frying pan with sauteed onions, cumin, and curry.
Don't forget techina and chumus!

The way I make it is as follows:
1 pkg of chicken cutlets cut into small pcs (should look like shwarma)
1 onion diced
3-4 Tbs BBQ sauce (any flavor)
Vegetables for a salad: tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, salad mix (or whichever salad you like, but the typical israeli salad works best)
Saute onion in oil till golden. Add chicken and saute further until golden. Add bbq sauce and cook on low flame for 1/2 hr, mixing occasionally.
Meanwhile thats cooking, cut up vegetables for salad.
When chicken is done cooking assemble as follows:
Warm up pita bread, cut off top, smear inside with chumus, put a layer of vegetables, a layer of chicken, a layer of vegetables, a layer of chicken. Then pour on techina and enjoy!

I haven't made it in a looong time. But here is my recipe:
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp turmeric
1½ tsp hawaidge *
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp salt
rub it onto strips of chicken
saute onions strips
add chicken to pan and fry until ready (turning in middle)
* Some kind of sefardi spice. I was told you can buy it in a store on 13th ave. called Tzion. I personally never made it there, and when I would make, I'd borrow some from my friend.
