I'd like to try to make shwarma in the oven (just dark cutlets, oil, shwarma spice). Anyone do this?
Covered or uncovered? What temp? How long??

TIA

the recipe in the best of kosher cookbook is the best one!

equal part shwarma spice/oil
marinate for an hour

stack dark cutlets on skeweres on top of half an onion
bake on 350 uncovered for about 50-60 min.

slice like actual shwarma when done

YUM

Do you have a betty crocker? I have a delicious recipe that you "fry" in the betty crocker.

Covered is generally good to go for a longer period of time.

I have one and tried making it in the Betty last week. But afraid I undercooked it. What's your recipe?

I use dark cutlets, marinate in oil, shwarma spice and garlic powder. I broil on high for about 10 min each side.

I used dark chicken stew. 1.5 lbs per recipe. 2 Tablespoons of schwarma spice, 2 Tablespoons of chicken soup mix, 3-4 crushed garlic, and 1/4 c oil. Mix all together. Marinate for at least 1/2 hour. I usually do 1-2 hours. Put it into the betty until nice and crisp. Turn the stew over and fry again till nice and Crispy. This can take aprox 7-10 min per side. But it's soooo good. My kids love it.
