Asking for hubby, he is not very overweight but high bp runs in the family. Anyone with ideas on how to lower it naturally?

Lose weight - this seems to be the dr's answer to everything.

Avoid salt.

Don’t eat processed food. Switch to natural sea salt instead of regular salt.

He juiced some beets but numbers still need to come down a bit. Wondering if he has some sort of unknown infection, which would explain, but how can a dr find out without any other symptoms besides for high-ish bp and high sugar?

Just living a healthy lifestyle will lower his blood pressure .

E.g. Exercising, not smoking, avoiding too much caffeine, alcohol and salt, reducing stress (if he has the ability to reduce his stress level...)

Then there are always things like eating high potassium food.etc

Many studies say that donating blood lowers blood pressure.

If he needs medication he should take it. High bp can be dangerous.

I think that the beets need to be mixed with other things or its too potent. I.e. apples, ginger etc. If there is an infection it could be found in a blood test I.e. high WBC count.

my friend says that curcuma is a natural remedy and should be consumed by pateince with high bp.

she has very high bp and drinks curcuma tea A LOT!

If you are serious about this, look up nutritionfacts.org, and look for Dr Greger's recommendations, based on published research. Beets, curcumin (turmeric), hibiscus tea daily are included.

Drink hibiscus Tea! My husband tries to drink 2 cups a day and his bp dropped by close to 20 points in a month and has stayed down

Magnesium supplements. That's actually what they give in the hospital for high blood pressure.

What they give in the hospital is IV magnesium. Not the same thing.

Not all people are salt sensitive. I am not. About 1/3 of people are.

The DASH diet has been validated to help blood pressure. Supplements don't have good evidence at this point. If he is not yet hypertensive a focus on a healthy diet and reducing stress is a good idea. However once hypertension progresses past a certain point, natural approaches will not result in a sufficient reduction. (if someone is obese, losing weight will help eventually but you need to control it in the meantime!)

My dr recommended red rice yeast supplement from the health food store years ago in addition to my watching my fat and salt and losing weight. I think I’m remembering the name correctly
