I've got my DD, who was 3 in the winter in tights. For a variety of reasons (well, they all have to do with tznius) I'd like to keep it that way through the summer. But...
The cheaper cotton tights with the seam (Butterfly brand or the like) right on the toe really bother her, and the better ones I managed to buy during the winter season that are lighter and more than 75% cotton (clothing store brands, italian) are just totally falling apart.
What do other mothers who have kids in tights do?
Where are the Carlino or the like even available in the summer?
And what about all that $$$?

Did you check online? There are no "seasons" on the WWW. Meaning- you can buy winter stuff in summer...

yeah. The non-American companies seem much more expensive, and the "local" ones ARE out of stock bec. of season. I'm not ready to spend $20 on a pair...yet.

I allow my 3 yr old to wear short socks yet she preffers tights. she wears the ones that she wears all winter. she refuses to wear knee socks. it's a big fight on shabbos when her shabbos tights are dirty and she wants to go to shul and all I have is knee socks. (I don't let her go to shul with short socks)

Butterfly is cotton? I thought they were nylon, so I didn't get them. (Rather have dd in thicker cotton tights than sweaty nylons.) Are there any thin 100% cotton tights out there?

OK...Butterfly has both a nylon and a mostly cotton type (like 70%) that I think is quite comfortable, except for the seam. Jeffries also makes the same type of cotton ones, slightly more expensive.
I got some really good buys on like 75% or 80% later in the winter from Country Kids, Gap, Old Navy (those are the junkiest) and Children's Place. I stocked up for next year's size, but didn't think to buy even more in the light colors for summer. oh well.
The ones I like best are from Condor & Carlino - they're thinner, more than 80% cotton, some even more like 90% (I haven't seen ALL cotton, those would really fall apart...) but they're more delicate and almost TWICE the price! Where do I find them now, though? Are they available in BP/ Wburg stores? How much do they even cost there?

Don't know if this is possible, but can she wear the tights inside out so that the seam doesn't bother her? I know that my brother does this with his socks since he's very particular, but I don't know if it would work the same way with tights...

I used to do that with my tights too, not so much the seams on the bottom but on the top.

yes, I tried inside out, but she doesn't like it. I mean I can make her wear them, it's not the end of the world; she has a pr of lace Shabbos tights that she loves cuz she can see her toes through them (like mommy's stockings) and she wears them and forgets the seam 5 min later. I just want her to feel good about wearing tights, not that it's a burden in any way, so I'm willing to do the research and spend the $$ - but where?
And yes, Miri, I got the good ones at little toes for about $8-$10 a pair. But they're out of season and out of stock now.

I find the ones from Childrens Place to the most comfy. the butterfly ones, get itchy feeling,(even the cotton).
as far as $$, I've always gotton them on sale, and I find they last nicely.
my vote: childrens place ! (also for thier toddler socks)

I just bought my 7 yr old dd 100% cotton tights in Bnei Brak. Two brands: called Schreiber 75% cotton 03-6165792 and 100% Desiy 052-7634987.
I know you people aren't in Israel but maybe an international call would tell you where you could buy them, or maybe you could start importing them yourselves.

thanks! When I first told DH about the issue with tights, he said "talk to someone in BB. I'm sure they've figured it out by now." I've got family there. It might actually be worth it in the end

I bought them in a shop called Garbaim on Rabbi Akiva. They also have a branch in Yerushalayim.

OK, so my dear MIL (who works in BP) stopped at a hosiery store (I will find out which one, Miri) and got what I needed...for lots of $$$. For the future though, Israel sounds interesting (yeah it takes imamother to get me to listen to DH's advice ) Thank you all, esp. shalhevet.
