I may have posted this some place else! Shavous came and went, and we were not invited anywhere. Shabbos have come and gone, again, nary an invite. I have had tonz of guests, but never been one. We moved to a new part of town about 5 years ago, and hoping that we live in a frumer neighbourhood we would be invited. We only have three kids. I have had families with 5 kids, inlaws and their out of town guests! (I loved it!). Do I stop the invites?

You don't have the poll option "never," which is what I would choose unless going away Sukkos and Pesach to my inlaws counts.

Since I'm still in school, I don't have time usually to cook for shabbos. Luckily, my husband and I are fortunate enough to be invited out VERY often, I rarely have to think about cooking for ourselves. However, I really appreciate all the families that invite us out and as soon as I finish school, I hope to be able to reciprocate and invite everyone over! I love cooking and I enjoy entertaining, however, with our schedules it is not always possible. For Shavuos, we had every meal out except first day lunch which we always do at home since dh is usually exhausted from studying and would rather stay home and sleep!

I think it counts!!!
We stay home for all the holidays but once and a while we go away for a shabbos. Unless I have walking children, I don't go out for shabbos because there is no eruv in our community. So far that hasn't very often because of pregnancy. When it comes to yom tov meals I will only go out for lunch and to a good friend where my kids will have a fun time. The larger my family, I think the harder it is on us to go out.

For kashrus reasons we do not go out anywhere, unless it is a catered meal in the shul. (or packaged food on paper plates etc) There are 2 families we would eat at, and neither have ever invited us, except once when I was away my dh got invited.
I would also love to eat out, I really get tired of my cooking sometimes!
I would think if you invite people often enough they would get the hint.

There are a few families we would eat at, and others that would give us paper plates and all if we went. But I dunno, in my community people hardly invite.
People who would invite us are not in walking distance. So I say never unless we happen to be at my grandparents or cousins or something.

I know very few people whose places are spacious enough to allow them to invite a family of five at one time.

I rarely am a guest. Sometimes we go to my BIL. But thats not often- maybe once every two months. Rarely we go to my FIL. Even rarer do we go to my MIL. Even rarer than that is going to my mother. And we haven't ever gone to my father.
I've eaten out for just one meal 4 times in the past 9 months, since moving to the community. And its just two of us.
Can't imagine what it would be like if we actually had KIDS.

I hear you girl ... it would be nice for it to go both ways sometimes ... but just think about who you are and what you like: people, guests is what tila does ... not always what they can do ... unfortunately so ...
I myself am not up to having guests these past few years ... something I miss terribly because I love cooking and feeding and nurturing ... I make stuff sometimes and bring it to people ... mostly desserts ...
don't let them not reciprocating take away the fun for you ...
