I just read an article which mentioned the estimated number of Jews in Brooklyn, and what percentage of them are observant.

would posters like to venture a guess on both:

1) How many Jews do you think live in Brooklyn?

2) What percentage of the Jews living in Brooklyn are observant?

note: Brooklyn includes Flatbush, Boro Park, Williamsburg, Crown Heights, Canarsie, and other neighborhoods

Well if 5000 jews live here, maybe quadruple that times 4 lives there. And don't ask me for the exact number. You're the mathmatician NOT ME Very Happy

I would guess 3/4 of a million to 1 million Jews.

I would say about 150,000 observant Jews live in Brooklyn. There are probably close to a million Jews in the city....maybe half a million in Brooklyn?

When do we get to hear the true answer?

and the answer is ...... (in an article I read) that there are an estimated 450,000 Jews in Brooklyn, with the highest concentration of religious Jews in Boro Park. More than a third of Brooklyn's Jews are estimated to be observant.

the larger numbers that some of you wrote are for the New York Metropolitan Area
