I serve it more as a dip, we spread it on challah. It's very healthy.

You take a whole head of garlic, and cut off the top. Then you wrap in foil and roast for an hour.

You can stick your knife in the cloves and it spreads smoothly on challah.

Yum

bonzie, I have a super easy recipe at home for the cake for strawberry short cake. I don't know if it's angel (I doubt it), but it so simple and easy and delicious. Smile

Friday night I'm eating out.

Shabbos day I made challah, have avocado salad and chopped liver with fried onions, cholent, apple cranberry kugel. green beans almondine, fruit soup.
Not sure yet if fruit soup will be appetizer or dessert. If the former, I'll take out cake from my freezer.

Wine (brought by friends) and grape juice for kiddies
Challah (bought frozen, baked at home)
Dips: homemade guacamole, bought Spanish egglant, chunky and smooth hummus
Matzo ball soup (I use a mix for the matzo balls, and Manischewitz canned clear chicken broth)
Shake'n'bake chicken drums for the kids (made last night)
Tandoori chicken for the adults (made last night - tasted it and it's yummy)
Mystery Indian dish (our guests tonight are Indian Jews - they will be arriving before Shabbos and bringing something)
Cucumber and tomato salad
Steamed basmati rice
Samosas, if I can find them at the store
Store-bought chocolate cake

I'm all about maximum taste with minimal effort.

I just walked across the street and bought a bulb of garlic and it's roasting in the oven right now! Mmmmm. . . I can't wait to eat it with the challah.

I also bought green beans so I'm adding green beans with crispy shallots and vegetarian liver to my menu.

Instead of angel food cake, use Duncan Hines yellow cake. Personally, I like it better that way.
