dh wears his white shirts usually 2 but up to 3 x's before they hit the laundry. it used to drive me nuts. but he wears an undershirt and tzitzit under his shirt. plus I send them to they cleaner (I have burned my arms too many times on the iron) so it's more cost effective if he wears them more than once as long as they aren't dirty.

same here, I think it's ok contrary to guys who wear nothing under.

so would I--for myself, too. Shirts that I wear to work, colored or snowy, get worn once. Onelook at the cuffs after a day's work, ugh, that's it. If I could replace just collar and cuffs I could get 3 or even 4 wearings out of them, at least in winter, which would also mean they'd last a lot longer.
OTOH I would not like to have to do my laundry in a copper cauldron on top of the stove and stir it with a baseball bat or mop handle.

yeah ... but I seem to already have a cauldron ... and I did boil his shirts ... between the bleach and the hot water ... I had to use a ton of lotion afterwards ...

wearing undershirts do not help ring around the color or shmutz arount the cuffs ... let alone the part between cuff and the sleeve where especially kids lean on their school desks and I think clean them ...
2x is more than enough like I said above for 3 I would burn em ...

don't tell me you did that without gloves???? Oh, your poor hands...Rubber or neoprene utility gloves are a must if you're going to keep this up. It doesn't hurt to get a bigger size and put on Vaseline and then thin cotton gloves under the rubber ones, either. Don't bother with the cheaper thin Playtex or whatever dishwashing gloves--the thick neoprene ones last way longer, so they are cheaper in the long run, plus they insulate better.
