Cleaning tea kettle

How do you clean the inside of a tea kettle? I've heard some ppl. boil vinegar or something inside to remove mineral buildup from the water. Do you do that?

Isn't the vinegar thing just for a coffee maker?

nope, vinegar (or any mild acid, for that matter--lemon juice will do, too, but costs more) will dissolve mineral scale (hard water spots) in/on teapots, coffee makers, kettles, bathroom fixtures, tile, windows yadda yadda yadda. I once had a sort of rocky buildup of something on my bathroom sink where water pooled all the time. poured a bit of vinegar, let it sit a while, and the stuff came right off.

vinegar--plain white distilled--will also take white salt stains off your boots in the same way.

oh--remember to rinse the vessel well after boiling the vinegar. it wouldn't hurt to boil up a kettleful of water after and throw that out. you don't really want that next cup of coffee smelling like vinegar.
