Before you start with wet shmattas and detergent, you first vacuum clean the freezer, ditto for the fridge. You get into all the crevices and gratings and then it's smooth sailing by the time you're ready to do the washing! Hatzlacha! It's my project today too, except that I have 2 full-sized freezers in my basement and my regular fridge/freezer in my kitchen. 'Marbah nechosim, marbah dagas....'

Chas vesholom, unless you want the repairman at your door or you want to buy a new appliance! Never hose down anything that has a running motor within!

In many freezers you can remove the 'floor' of the freezer just by unscrewing a few screws, and then its a breeze to wash in the sink! Check it out, if not then def. vacuum well first.

If it's a frost-free then there shouldn't be any wetness around and if it's not the frost free version then you should not start defrosting before vacuuming because the process of defrosting makes all that wet mush. REal frozen icy gratings are not wet and the entire interior can be vacuumed, even if the racks are covered in ice

you should definetly defrost it, wipe the water out with paper towels and then vaccum it, all the crevices. It's a mechaie to see how it's clean afterwards. I did it.... it was not dificult!

I've tried hoovering it, using a cocktail stick, wet cloths dry cloths and there are still crumbs in it. Okey not loads but there are still crumbs in it. Has anyone ever covered their freezer before? I usually double wrape everything that I put in the freezer on Pesach so do you think it will be okey to do that? What do people generally do? I think I'am going to leave it for today and tomorrow after work I will tackle it again, maybe a rest from it will help me.

I take a bowl of boiling hot water and keep dipping paper towels to wash the freezer.

You read my mind - I just wanted to come back on and warn all fridge/freezer cleaners to be aware when covering the interior of the appliance. You must be very, very careful to allow the air to circulate, otherwise the fan breaks. This translates into making sure that the sides of the shelves in the fridge have enough space after lining with silver foil so that you can push your finger between the shelf and the fridge. If you have metal shelves that have criss cross bars then once they're covered with foil you must puncture some holes in the foil so that air can move around in the unit. Very important, unless of course you love repairmen in your home....
