I'd like to make a broccoli salad this Friday night (part of the three day yom tov) using a packet of frozen pre-checked broccoli.
I've never bought the frozen bags or made this salad before and from what I gather after looking at past threads, you have to part cook the broccoli first.
My question is, how do I 'cook' it on yom tov?
I am not keeping my gas on and my urn is the type that keeps the water hot but not boiling hot. The water from the tap can get pretty hot though.
Is there anyway I can make it edible/soft enough to use as a salad?
Any advice welcome, thanks!

I don't cook mine before! When you buy the broccoli make sure you are buying florets - the tree bits. I partially defrost the broccoli then add cranberries, almonds -pre - toasted for 15 mins in the oven. 1 small red onion. (Some people add 1-2 shredded carrots for color). Then mix in a bowl - Half cup mayo. 3 tablespoons sugar. 3 tablespoons lemon juice. Enjoy!
