I asked a friend of the family's if we could hire her to stay with my kids for 24 hours while I go away with my husband. She's a single girl in her early twenties. I'm clueless how much is reasonable to pay her, and when I asked her, she too had no idea. What do u think is reasonable?

How many kids and how old? (Is it likely she'll have to be up at night with them or are they past that stage?)

I always have paid the same hourly rate, even for overnight sitters.

Obviously it depends on how many kids - very different if it's 1-2 or 4-5 or 8. But assuming the kids are not in school at this time of year she'll be with them non-stop.

My friend won't be getting up during the night with them. There are three children ages 14, 10, and 8.

An overnight sitter around here is $100-150.
If its for 24 hours I would say at least 240. 10/hr. even though she is not awake she is responsible and will not be sleeping the same as she would at her own house.

Often night hours (after 9? 10?) are more expensive. Like 8 euros to 10 euros.
