that was an interesting website - after the first paragraph as to why diets failed (and I agree with his findings), I tuned out. Of course, anyone who exercises 90 minutes a day/7 days a week will lose weight - I'm happy when I can find 30-45 minutes. As far as his EFT (of whatever he calls it) is concerned, I think it's just another money scheme.

After fasting this Yom Kippur, I saw how easy (okay, not sooooo easy) it is to give everything up for 25 hours. Why can't I just say no to that piece of cake? or that second helping of whatever. If someone put the most scrumptious food in front of me that was everything I liked and I was starving, and it was not kosher, I wouldn't even be tempted. It's crazy how the human mind works.

I'm not always tempted by junk food - good old fashioned healthy food, eaten in great quantities (mostly when I'm overtired, angry or frustrated) is also bad for you.

im really good with eating until right after I cleaN UP from supper-- then the cravings hit, I NEED sugar. Every night, night after night, I munch on candy, licorice etc. I have it in the house b/c one night I wanted it & the only thing I came up with was old baking chocolate & I was so desperate, I ate it!

I love choc. chips!!! but I hide them in the back of my cabinet so I should forget about them and not munch on them. cuz once I start with one I just cant stop, I keep running back for more.
except now I've remembered them.........
Now what do I do?!!!
I feel the craving kicking in......

Yael - mine are hidden in the back of the cupboard - you should see how silly I look standing on one of the kids' stools throwing things out of the cupboard in order to find them.

I'm a chocoholic - tonight, after trying to get some cooperation from my children and my husband, I lost it, snuck into the kitchen and consumed a few fistfuls of chocolate chips. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I am a true chocaholic especially with milk schmerling choc ,I don't eat it... I inhale it within a few sec it is gone I am sure there must be a law in halacha about that, but ofcourse ign in my situation is bliss the only thing to avoid this is making sure I am fleishig almost always. This is one thing now I am dieting and excercising that I cannot refuse myself Rolling Eyes
is there any substitute?

did you ever try carob chocolate? it is "healthy chocolate." I tried it once, it wasnt so bad, but personally id rather eat the real thing.
I dont eat so much junk because I can picture where all those calories and fats are going right onto my body, adding inches to my waist and hips, ruining my teeth... and that stops me from even buying them. I do buy pretzels for the once in a while when im in the snacking mood because they have lots of vitamins and arent sugary. I only buy 100% fruit juice popsicles which have lots of vitamin c too. I work hard to exercise and I feel awful to counteract that with eating.

Freilich - it would be great if my only vice were chocolate - but I have an equally bad one - and that is fleishigs! Can you believe it? I try so hard not to flesh myself up because I can't seem to stop myself, once I get a taste of meat or chicken.

RG - you sound so disciplined - I am also working hard at working out and I do not have the discipline to get my eating on track. I just got up this morning and put on my skirt and it's still tight. YUCK. I hope I don't give up on my exercising - I know it will show improvement even if my diet is terrible if I just keep at it.

for many years now I have avoided all nosh. just reading the ingredients is a good way to turn me off. I cant remember the last time I had a candy.

(actually I do, it was over 2 years ago by an event that I thought they were serving supper and they didnt so I was starving and pregnant and I thought I'd faint so I called my husband to bring me some food b/c I didnt want to leave. and while I was waiting I was looking around for anything to bring up my blood sugar and I found a candy so I ate it. I actually had to force myself to eat it, b/c it was blue, and I was thinking ew blue food coloring in my body!!)

anyway I find that now after all these years I dont even have the craving for it like I used to. I see candy by a party and I dont even desire it. (cake and cookies is another story) tell yourself over and over that is junk, its just sugar and food coloring and chemicals, its gross if you think about it.
once you train yourself to listen to your brain and not your heart you will have success. "moach shalit al halev." mind rules over the heart.
also DONT GET STARTED. dont even let yourself eat "just"one cuz then the craving will come back stronger than ever.
and also: "out of sight, out of mind". dont let junk enter your house.
