I was picking my younger son up from school at noon, and my 7 year old son came to the car crying because he has no kids to play with. I have noticed this happen many times in the past. I worry that because I am new in the community,(even though it's been 8 years) that we are not known and part of the "in'" families so people don't give my son a chance. They stick with the people they know. He had a birthday party in November with 5 boys. Everything seemed o.k. But, I've tried to arrange playdates and 1 boy's mother didn't call back. The other had been sick earlier in the week, got better, but then was sick again. I'm hoping she will call back to re-schedule.

Has anyone been through this? Have any advice? My heart is broken right now. I wasn't popular in school, and I am so scared that he will have those problems also.

Thanks!

My son didn't have any play dates either cause after a few that were disasters he chose not to invite them over. My son is deep pensive and can play creatively for hours with legos or trucks or whatever. The other kids would come and wreck all his toys or pocket his cars and stuff like that. they were just too vilde. Guess what he grew up and hangs out with the smart kids and can fix anyones computer or learn with anyone. What I'm trying to say it is not always easy but he in time will find his niche - and I know it is hard not to worry.
